Well, it all started back in December 2010. I weighed in at a hefty 262 pounds. My height is just 5'3". I was on the verge of despair I think. Never thinking that I could get back to a normal weight. I was on Thyroxine for an underactive thyroid, statins for high cholestoral and inhalers for asthma. I couldn't walk very far without getting out of breath and pains in my legs. I had stopped smoking the year before. My job was sedentary. I was a complete mess. But I found the inspiration to lose the weight, when I took up swimming. By March 2012 I was down to 192lbs. This was through swimming 4 or 5 times a week for a mile and eating healthily. I didn't count calories, I made sure I had five pieces of fruit for breakfast and lunch was usually soup and a bread roll. Dinner consisted of meat and vegetables. I limited myself to two slices of bread a day. I felt that bread was responsible for my weight gain as I could quite happily live on sandwiches. It wasn't easy, but I stuck to it and as the weight came off, my motivation rose. By June 2012 I thought i had it all sussed out. I told myself that this was my life from now on. Just as i had told myself I was a non smoker those two years earlier, I was now telling myself if I wanted to remain healthy, this is what I had to do. Unfortunately in June 2012, my local pool closed and the routine I had sorted out for myself, was starting to crack. It was a lot more difficult to get to a pool out of town. The times weren't convenient, you name it there was a reason. In the October I was made redundant from work and I sat about for three months, waiting for the new pool to open in December. This became January 2013. In those six months I managed to put back on 25 pounds. But with the pool opening in January I managed to get back to 192 pounds over the coming months and there I have stayed, almost in limbo, not slim, just the same. I would love to lose another 40 pounds and be 152. So this is why I am here, I want to reach that goal but can no longer do it, by just watching what I eat..I have reached the point where I need to count the calories.
