Wow, it has been a long time since I have updated. This has been a busy year for me. I'm still sciencing the science and doing fun stuff off my bucket list and adding more things to my bucket list.
On the Sparky front I am losing weight really really slowly, but I'm also not working out nearly has hard as I use to, and I'm not getting as many migraines. But, I thought it might be time to try something different.
So now, more sparking, modification to food choices, more weight training, things like that.
Should be a hoot!

I am back and updating my page. I hope to make 2015 a success and I think spark is a part of that.

So I am back. I've been out for a long while, but I thought I'd check back in and see what is going on. My page still needs some updating but that's okay. My goals for now are to work on my cardio fitness and increasing my strength. Without those, there isn't health.
I've joined the 5% Winter Challenge. I ended up maintaining during the Fall challenge, some of which was from being sick the last two weeks of the challenge. Now i am healthy again and ready to go. My weight loss goals are the same as September.

I have joined the 5% Fall Challenge. The goal is to lose 5% of one's body weight in 8 weeks while in a supportive/challenging environment. I am looking forward to this team and helping others while I work towards my goals.
I will be starting the challenge at about 209 pounds so need to lose about 10 in 8 weeks. This is going to be a blast.

I know I don't update very often, but I thought it was time.
After completing my marathon in October of 2010, I was ready for something new. I put on weight during the endeavor and wanted to take it off. For now I have been working on building my muscles and strength, along with that my flexibility.
This summer I am really going to be working on my eating, and hopefully start taking the pounds and inches back off.

So I am three months in to my marathon training (15 mile long runs) so I thought I should add something to my main page. Sorry, I've been busy with three hour long runs!
The marathon I am aiming for is the 15th annual Indianapolis Marathon held on October 16th of 2010. It is still a long way away, but since I have spent most of my life as a non-runner I thought I'd give myself plenty of time.
Dec. 8th 2009.
Tomorrow I am going in to talk to a lawyer/cpa about starting a charitable foundation. Recently I had up a tenative idea for a general not for profit but over the months the ideas have changed into an actual workable set of goals and ambitions. I have a blog posting with details if you are interested.

-Strength Train 2x/week
- Learn to jog (inspired by Priceless!) by the end of summer

-Pay off first student loan
Start A Not For Profit
-I am currently in the early stages of starting a not for profit to provide housing for those coming out of a group living environment (ie foster care system).

I wanted to start this month with a plan. My weight has mostly just going up and down about two pounds. Since I am exercising a lot it must be the food intake that is causing the trouble. So for December I am really going to track what I eat and aim to be in the lower part of my range. I know the end of the month is going to be really hard so I thought I'd try to start off strong. I also plan on getting a more user friendly food scale. That should help with portion control.
I went out today and bought a new scale. My last one had a run in with some water and now gives random weights. Talk about an exciting way to start the day.
Hopefully if I keep up my workout routine then the pounds should start coming off again, or I should at least start shrinking.

My weight actually went down this week! Talk about a motivator. I have been struggling to get back on track and it might actually be paying off in the scale department.

Went to Drs for standard visit including a discussion about what final weight would be good for me. Overall we decided between 160-165 would be best for me. My previous goal of 175 would put me at the top of my healthy BMI (which is good) but would give me no room to maneuver once my metabolism starts slowing down in a few years (which is bad).
Well I have been on spark for a while and now I am down 100 pounds, which I reached April 30th. I'm almost to my goal, but not there yet. Talk about a motivator!
I am a newly wed (July 1, 2006). Over the first year of marriage I've lost about 70 pounds on my own. Concerns of muscle loss and a plateau I can't seem to conquer has brought me to Spark.
To continue to improve my health through healthy eating and exercise (both strength and cardio).
Eating healthy foods. Paying attention while eating. Being physically active. Trying new things!
The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not Eureka! (I found it!) but rather, "hmm.... that's funny...."
