Still love horseback riding at mid sixties ~ and want to continue !

Married Female retiree in Northern Florida still riding my Tennessee Walkers and want to continue as long as possible... maybe 80's Ha
I feel great but can't seem to get off the "start" line on this weight loss venture ~ motivation and goals need a jump start. Would love to have a pal with some success and similar interests. I need to lose almost 50 lbs.so I can continue to enjoy an active life with riding, dancing and enjoying other people with like interests.

Oh my gosh Dottie, I should come down there for the winter....and we could just chop off these pounds together and get our butts on the horses. I too plan to be on a horse before I hit cold weather. I have a couple of options. I have a very sound hefty Appy that is about 15 years old. She can not only hold my weight but she might actually like it. I broke her years ago to trail ride and she was awesome, but she developed moon blindness and has not been rode for a few years. She is totally blind, but I am thinking that it might be her salvation to get out and about more along with mine that she is built to hold me...plus she is not tall...only about 14.1. If I didn't know she was an appy I would swear she had some draft in her with her solid frame and all. I also have another horse right now that I am sure can hold my weight....he is also an appy and stands about 16.3. He is push button broke but he too has been left on the side line since I have not been riding for the last 6 years. None of the riders here want to work with anything but their show horses which are all Arabians.

My only concern is that my legs might not hold up to making any corrections right off the bat...and another 40 lbs and I would be so much happier even though I would still be over 200 it would be a solid 200 and I can live with that. So I think I am going to have my grandson get on both Appys and work them for the next few weeks....while I concentrate on the pounds. I would love to do a little trail riding before winter....FALL around here is so beautiful. I would have to stay off the heavy trails with the blind girl through she would be more for going down the road...nothing spooks her but would not want to get her in an area that we would have to climb to get out of or over.

Thanks for stopping by my blog to comment....it was much appreciated.

Lottie of course I remember you and miss our conversations. I don't get too often on spark people but when I do I always see if you are or have been around. I am glad you commented on my blog and don't ever feel you are dumping on me...I will always be here with a good ear.

Oh don't think I am not feeling the pain today for that walk. It hurts to breath....hehe. But I did enjoy it while it lasted. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. I am coming to Orlando on the 14 for a week with my daughter. How is the weather down there? Warmer than here no matter what but I sure hope its nice while I am there no rain please.

Missed you.
