Deb (LovesTypos)

I'm a 50 year old woman trying to lose weight so I can get off all the medications I'm on. I'm currently going to college to become a medical assistant. I used to be an LPN, but I had a spinal cord injury that stopped that career path. I live alone and don't have a very good support system. My family lives 200 miles away and my oldest son lives over 50 miles away. My youngest lives very near me, but he's already told me he's tired of hearing me talk about how I'm trying to lose weight and what ...

My Goals:
I'm hoping to lose 100 pounds before I graduate from college in May of 2014.

My Program:
I am tracking my food, drinking much more water than I ever have in my life and I'm trying to walk at least every other day. I have revamped my refrigerator and pantry and have mostly healthy foods.

Personal Information:
My name is Deb and I live in Goshen, IN. I have 2 sons that I am very proud of. I'm disabled due to a spinal cord injury, but thank goodness I can still walk, even if it's not a normal walk. I live alone and don't have any social life, but I think that is mostly due to how I view myself and lack of funds. Hopefully, losing the weight can actually take care of both of those problems.

Other Information:
I found this quote and I don't know who to give the credit to, but it has become my favorite quote.

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain."

Oh by the way thanks for the card!!! Lol! I had to withdrawl money so I could buy roceries! Hahaha, oh my brain needs some conditioning. I'll need at least a year to fix what working two jobs has done to me in the almost 4 years. Sigh ... have a good weekend!!! :)

Haven't checked the freezer. Although at this point it's worth a shot. Lol! I always lose stuff in the weirdest places too. Ugh, I have turned my house upside down. I'm just going to have to get it replaced!

I really want to thank you for the encouragement. I have been feeling super guilty lately about how little I have done to make changes in my healthy recently. My fiance told me about the Biggest Loser challenge they are doing at his job. I asked if he signed up, and he said yes. I told him I would join him. We just talked about making changes at home too. Like not continuing our cable after our year is up because it just encourages us to sit in front of the tv, instead of working out. Making changes to our grocery shopping list, etc. It's been a good conversation! I really want to see him succeed, and obviously I want to too. Right now none of what we are doing now is good for his diabete's or for me wanting to get pregnant, and I feel bad I haven't been more supportive in that aspect because we should care more. So, thank you! I feel guilty every time I fall... I know it's part of the process, but you are so right. I just need to keep going. That's what really matters. :)

Thnaks for adding me as a friend - I've added you, too. How are your classes going? Is a medical assistant like a nursing assistant? Our "clerks" and "unit secretaries" are called medical adminstration support (something like that - we tend to still call them secretaries). That would seem like an easier job wih back injuries.

Hope you are having a terrific start to the new year.

Meri
