TODAY IS A GIFT, OPEN IT WITH CARE.

I am married to my best friend of 40 years. I am a retired dental assistant and a mother of 3, grandmother of 4 with 1 on the way.
I have been over weight since I was 8 years old. I am 59. I do not have a thyriod as it was removed when I was 7. I also suffer from RA with disabling in my hands and feet. There are other health issues as well but God is Great. I would love to lose 100 lbs but need your help.

Thank you, LovingKate, for your comments on my Food Frustration blog. I agree that nothing beats the flavor of homegrown fruits/veggies. A few years back I joined a CSA for a half-share. As it was just my hubby and I at home, I split the pick-ups with my parents. The produce was wonderful! It was a bit pricey however, and we decided that for that same investment, we could do a nice garden ourselves. We have challenges though; deer that come right up to our house, well water that is somewhat limited, the quandary of where to place the garden on our property, and a relatively short growing season. We haven't yet put in that garden :( . Maybe this is the year! I need to decide what really is a challenge vs an excuse. And then set my mind to mitigating the real challenges while anticipating the benefit of some flavorful bounty this year! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thank you for adding me as a friend -- we have a lot of similarities! I am also 59, married to my best friend and suffer from a slight case of psoriatic arthritis. Some days are very fatiguing, but most are pretty normal. Nevertheless, it is both an incentive to lose weight and a draw to comfort myself the way I have traditionally -- with food.

I really do recommend you give "No S" a try (www.nosdiet.com). Its commonsense, not too difficult disciplines have given me hope for an end to compulsive eating, constant hunger (because you're right, snacks don't work -- just the opposite) and obesity.

The results are supposed to be slow (we'll see!), but the end result (for me) is almost better than the weight lost: an end to "dieting" forever!
