I am a 52 year old mom of 3 ages 15, 18 and 33 years. Life is great, good family, good friends, but I would feel better about ME if I could shed some weight. In the last 7 years I have gained 20 lbs (following a hysterectomy) that just don't seem to want to budge. I try to eat right and exercise a couple days a week, but nothing seems to help. Hopefully by tracking everything I can find something that will work for me.

I just rejoined the gym, and this time the trainer who worked with me gave me a program that she promises will work. If not, she'll adjust it until we find something that works. I feel much better this time around. It is very interesting that the trainer who worked with me last time, a guy, set my program up on totally different machines... I'm hoping this gal will find something that will work for me.

My Goals:
My goal is to get healthy, but sure would like to shed some pounds. So far I am down about 5 lbs, but would really like to see 30 - 40 go away and stay away.

Well, here we go again. If really got off track this summer and need to get back into the exercise thing again. 3 of the 5 lbs I'd lost have come back and don't see to want to leave again... Back at it strong and hopefully steady.


My Program:
I am tracking my food and really love this site for that opportunity. I don't miss a day unless I am unable to get to a computer. I also have a buddy that I walk with and plan to start a spinning class. Sometimes I get to cardio or yoga class. I also teach downhill skiing.

Other Information:
I enjoy gardening, walking, biking, snowshoeing, skiing - both downhill and cross country. We haven't had any substantial snowfall since before the holiday's so it has limited the cc skiing and snowshoeing. I also work part time as a substitute teacher so my schedule is sporadic to see the least. It really limits my ability to sign up for classes that require consistent attendance.

    Thanks for being so sweet and for the encouragement. We all here know how much it means to have support of this kind. It sure is motivating and brings the sun right back on what seems like a never ending cloudy day. It's so tough when the scale doesnt budge and even worse when it moves upwards.     I don't really find that I have a hard time losing weight -- I have a hard time getting motivated!! emoticon

    However, since I am a curvy gal, I don't ever get "skinny" the way society defines it. I always, even at my lowest of the low weights, have very defined (i.e. big) hips and thighs and (this is the good part) maintain a big butt and bust despite the weight loss.

    Kim Kardashian is definitely a little more extreme in her proportions than I -- bigger butt, smaller waist -- but I think she's a great body role model for me because she isn't super skinny. There's not a lot of girls like her, or like me, in the public eye.

    I also love Michelle Obama as a body role model. She's super tall, but she wears her (relatively) big hips well.

    My problem is that all of my body role models are women of color and I am caucasian! There are different standards for white women...we're supposed to be skinnier to be considered attractive. That annoys me.
