Here we go again! Strong, Able, Focused! Change in goal plan: Celebrate each day as a blessing! I haven't arrived, but I sure am on my way: TODAY is the day. This is it. This is what we have, and I am using it to the fullest! If I don't lose it today, it's still on its way! My goal - Better health, mobility, flexibility, strength, and losing body fat along the way. Name: Deb, Age: 57; Height: I am 4'11 and 1/4" and proud to be a shrimp! Starting highest Weight 212. Lost 30 lbs prior to back surgery, and regained a bit while recovering from the surgery. So, I hit the reset button. I was 210 in July 2009, reached 179 a year before my back surgery, but then hit a bad bout of pain while waiting for the surgery. Kept most of it off until a few months ago. I am grateful I kept most of it off up to my three surgeries, because I hate to think how heavy I would be now if I didn't lose the weight before the surgery. Overall Goal Weight: 125 - 130 (should be lower for my height but.... I will aim for this) The time is NOW! The weight will vanish with hard work, and I am kicking it out the door! Losing is so hard being over 50. Working on it to increase my flexibility, core strength, movement, due to an unstable lower spine (spondylolisthesis), stenosis, and 2 fused discs cervical spine and one in lumbar spine fused, and an impaired knee. I have to be really careful with my movements sometimes, because little things send my back into spasm.. I am strengthening, gaining mobility and flexibility day by day. I weighed 207/210 at the Doctor's office in July, 2009. I am losing weight, lbs. and inches! Although I regained those 30 lbs, I am back on the fitness wagon, and gently getting my exercise on, and eating healthier (January 2013). My new Beginning 212 lbs December 2012 205 lbs January 2013 BMI 40 - The Adventure Begins Again! I have environmental allergies, a congenital heart murmur and the hypertension, which has improved since losing some of the weight. I am happily married, mother of two adult sons. I am permanently partially disabled but am recovering from back surgeries. My first love is being creative, the arts, and anything that I can make with my hands. I am also a librarian, but working for a publisher at the moment My WEIGHT and General Health History 210/207 at Dr's in July 2009 - 41.9 BMI 184 5/7/10 smaller size T shirt 182 6/11/10 New Bras! 179 8/17/2010- 36.2 BMI 1-1-2011 - 182 lbs oops (Ok, now cut it out, that was a 3 lb gain. Get the momentum going again) 2-6-11 182 - still struggling with back, and back spasms. Hard to move like I WANT to. SURGERY update 3-9-2011 Anterior Cervical Discectemy and Fusion C5-6, C6-7 - (3-11) left arm greatly improved with surgery, still some numbness in right hand, and upper back spasms. Still - I am healing. Lots of rest. rest. rest. WEIGHT 183 - Losing a lot of weight and working on my fitness before surgery counts a lot in how I am recovering nicely. I am very positive about the outcome. June 2011 - after a bout with a severe facial rash, steroids and illness in April after my surgery, my weight blossomed to 190. I am happy to say that by the time I had my knee surgery June 15, 2011 I reached 188 again! August 2, 2011 - FINAL surgery - L-4-5 laminectemy, discectemy, fusion with cages, rods, screws - I am a walking hardware store! Maintaining 188!!! Not ready yet for physical therapy, but doing my little home routines until September 19. I am making it happen one day at a time. 187 lbs! 8-19-2011 205 lbs 5-19-2012 204 lbs 3-23-2013 and 2 inches since Feb. 2013 GOALS I have over 75 total lbs to lose. (maybe 85) First Big Goal Break 200 and get to 199 190 lbs - Reward?? 180 lbs - Reward?? Bonus Goal for reaching 182 - losing 30 lbs - Celebration with my husband - a special date night Milestone goal 175 lbs Half way there goal 168 lbs Goal 4: 155 New Outfit Goal 5: 150 vacation Goal 6: 140 concert tix Goal 7: 135 take a pottery class And... My words of encouragement to you since you have reached the bottom of this page... In the words of Dorrie, Just keep on swimming. Inch by inch it's a cinch, yard by hard makes it hard. Slow and steady wins the race (the tortoise from the tortoise and the hare) You CAN do it, You ARE doing it because you are! You Rock! Keep it up, you are getting there. Just because you haven't arrived does not mean you are not on the journey! When life hands you lemons, squeeze those lemons dry when you make the lemonade, because you will strengthen your muscles when you do. Let the recovery and strengthening continue. I am healing, I am getting stronger. I am approaching my main goal nonetheless - Getting healthy IS my job!

My Goals:
To be the healthiest me I can be. Current small 3 month goal - to lose 12 pounds by mid June 2013 (that would bring me to the low 190's) lose 1 inch per week (somewhere). In 2011, I had 3 surgeries. Two major, one minor. I am getting back on track to strengthening, losing weight, flexibility. One step, one moment, one day at a time.
My Program:
My entire program is pretty modified - Daily PT (physical therapy exercise ) , walking, recumbent bike, light dancing, and wii fit. I plan to again tackle gardening this summer, first time since surgeries.
Personal Information:
Creativity is key! I am an artist/librarian. I yearn for my creative side. I am visionary and forward thinking. I am working on my writing and art again, as well as my textile arts.
Other Information:
The joy of the Lord is your strength - Nehemiah 8:10 Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10 ~~~~~~~~ ~ for those days when things seem so out of control. God is, and that is all that matters.
