I'm a writer, married for a long time with three grown kids. I have now lost 153 pounds. At my highest weight, my joints, my body, everything hurt. I had days when I could not go downstairs and stayed in my room all day. My family members brought me my meals. Wow, that so could have gone on to resemble one of those bad reality shows. I'm so glad I made a different choice.
What happened? I got sick and tired of being sick and tired. Something just clicked for me. I started watching what I was eating and exercising some and lost about 50 or 60 pounds. Then I just kinda maintained that weight for about three years.
In September 2010 I decided to stop maintaining and get serious. I weighed 258. I joined Sparkpeople, logged my food and my fitness and just kept being consistent. Slowly but surely, the weight has been coming off and now I am celebrating being at the lowest weight since before my son was born. He's 33 years old.
I'm celebrating all kinds of things these days...sitting down in ball parks and concert halls, for one thing. I actually FIT in those seats! With room to spare! Who knew? I fit even in airline seats! Someone called me tiny the other day!! Whaaaaaat?????
I think I'm going to stop here, even though my BMI still has me in the overweight category. I could lose more weight, but I think I'm going to stay here. I could stand to gain some muscle, and lose some fat, and I'll see if I can do that while staying in the same weight range.
Basically, my goal is just to be healthier and better able to do the things I'd like to do! I have osteoarthritis in my left knee, and the extra weight is bad for it, so basically I'm losing weight to make my knee happy, lol.
I'd like to weigh what my driver's license says I weigh. ;) GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!
I want to fit into size 14 jeans next. GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!!
Looking forward to size 13 jeans, which is the size I wore in high school. GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!!

Alternate Day diet.
Exercise: Been slacking here, doing some light yoga only. Stepping it up doing Callanetics and walking more now that the weather no longer resembles a blast furnace. I also occasionally add in random things like hula hooping and Zumba on the Wii, elliptical (when I feel like getting my butt kicked), hiking, and Pilates. I'm into building muscle, but not into lifting weights.
