Christmas 2013. Me, my grandson Nic, and in the front, trying to hide, is hubby.
I'm a 50+ mother of two, grandma of two boys, and a wonderful granddaughter. I've been married for 40 years to the same man, Johnny. He served 20 years in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Got out, was an xray technologist until September 2007 when he suffered a major thoracic aortic rupture and stroke. Since then, I've been his 24/7 caretaker. He's pretty much ok now, except he's got a paralyzed left arm, left diaphragm (which means his left lung doesn't work), and has a permanent tracheotomy that I have to suction out a couple of times a day.
I spend my free time crocheting, beading, reading (mostly fantasy/sci-fi), watching tv, and playing EverquestII.
I would like to get below 200 pounds.
To become more patient with my husband and his needs.
To quit crawling into a "cave" when things are rough, and turn to my friends more for support during bad times.
To quit being embarrassed to ask for help.
I'm exercising more. Going for walks with hubby. That means pushing his wheelchair, a lot, sometimes. Othertimes, I have to walk r e a l slow. But, it's a walk!
Originally, I was born in San Diego, California. I married a sailor to see the world, and ended up seeing the US. Somehow, when he retired, we ended up in upstate NY, then over to Massachusetts, and now, back to the Syracuse area of NY.
