New Beginnings

My life has taken a sudden change in direction four years ago when I sustained a spinal chord injury. With the medication treatments I gained 80 pounds and I began to have a sedentary life. I tried to change that and began some activities that I could do at the start until my conditioned worsened and I became fully disabled. Now I have decided to do something about it. I can't change my condition but I can change my weight; improve my fitness level to a reasonable degree and keep a positive attitude.
Well, I joined Gold's gym to use the pool...and I have consistently been doing so for some time now. Next, I got myself back on Sparkpeople and I an determined to check in every day. And next I also joined a Gold's Gym 12 week weight loss challenge although I think I am the only disabled person doing it...now I am going to benefit from this coaching program...I will succeed!

Hi!
Welcome to the Partnership Accountability to the Finish Line team! We are happy to have you with our team. Please feel free to introduce yourself to the team, if you have not already done so. Be sure to read the thread: Click Here: To help find a partner and learn what to do next". It will help you find someone who has similar goals, likes, dislikes, or someone close to your age if you prefer. You will both be able to support, encourage, and just be there for each other, while on your way in reaching your goals.

If you need help finding someone or help of any kind, please let me know, as I am here to help you in anyway I can. Hope you enjoy and are able to achieve your goals on this team or any others you might join.

Have a great day!!
Nicole
leader of Partnership Accountability to the Finish Line

I am enjoying living by the ocean now and I have my sister living with me. We go out regularly and do some serious swimming and snorkeling!(I am mostly hand finning emoticon ) She is a great underwater photographer too, so we can relive what we have seen in the ocean through her art.

Although I still live with my disability, it doesn't own me! I am stronger and feel so much better about myself. Even if some things won't go away, I have to appreciate the blessings I have.

I have been doing very well with my regularity at the gym with my swimming and I am adding some personal training starting tomorrow. Although I have a significantly higher level of pain, I feel better about myself and I have seen some good results. As my doctor said 'you can stay home, have less pain and be jello or you can get out and build what you can in spite of the pain, lose weight, feel achievement, feel more positive, protect your health and be gumby instead of jello.'
I like gumby... emoticon
