The Girl Who Eats Like a Truck Driver
I've tried a million times to get in shape and lose weight, but it's hard for me because I used to have an eating disorder. I'm hoping that being serious about SparkPeople this time will make this time different than the rest. I hate the obsession and negativity that overcomes me when I try to diet, and it's often what prompts me to quit, so I'm hoping that support from a community will help me keep a positive attitude toward this process without becoming too consumed with weight loss or ...
I've tried a million times to get in shape and lose weight, but it's hard for me because I used to have an eating disorder. I'm hoping that being serious about SparkPeople this time will make this time different than the rest. I hate the obsession and negativity that overcomes me when I try to diet, and it's often what prompts me to quit, so I'm hoping that support from a community will help me keep a positive attitude toward this process without becoming too consumed with weight loss or getting too down on myself.
I am a vegetarian (trying to eat more vegan) who LOVES cooking and eating. I actually write and photograph for my school's food magazine/website, have my own food blog, and interned at a food website in NYC last summer. Can you see why dieting is hard for me? :) My dad has always said I "eat like a truck driver," and it's true — now I'm trying to balance that out with the exercise to match. Thankfully my love of food includes all the healthy things, so it's mostly just portions that I have to watch. I'm trying to be more mindful of hunger/fullness cues.
I'm passionate about music and try to see as many live shows as I can afford. I also sing and play piano. Other passions are writing, photography, reading, travel and film. I love animals and the outdoors, and my favorite type of exercise is running.
I'm spending this summer as an editorial intern at a travel website and living in Brooklyn, so I'm excited to explore NYC again with my friends — hopefully from less of a gastronomical point of view than last summer :)
