New Year, New Me with a healthy lifestyle!

Hi my name is Ruth. I have been working on losing my weight since Fall of 2005. This is the 1st time in my life I have lost weight, & kept if off for more than 1 yr, LET ALONE 4 yrs. I may have gained a little back, but I will NEVER be as big as I was in the pic just to the left of this.

So, here it is, Jan 1, 2010 & I'm even further from my goal weight. BUT, it's not all bad. I originally lost 55 #s up to June of 2007. I only had 10 more to my original goal weight (would have lost ...
Hi my name is Ruth. I have been working on losing my weight since Fall of 2005. This is the 1st time in my life I have lost weight, & kept if off for more than 1 yr, LET ALONE 4 yrs. I may have gained a little back, but I will NEVER be as big as I was in the pic just to the left of this.

So, here it is, Jan 1, 2010 & I'm even further from my goal weight. BUT, it's not all bad. I originally lost 55 #s up to June of 2007. I only had 10 more to my original goal weight (would have lost more if I needed or wanted to), but never got there. My mother's health due to Alzheimer's took a nose dive THE SAME WK I was @ my lowest of 151. She passed away July of '07. I then lost another dear friend's mom that Oct, & I gradually gained back 10#s over the next few months. In May of '08 we went on our 25th Anniversary trip, with me STILL @ 163. Then over the next yr, I gained another 10#s, WHILE still eating healthy & exercising! What gives? Now I'm back to teetering in the upper 170's. I'm eating healthy, cleaner foods than I ever have, I'm exercising @ least 60 min/day, doing cardio & ST. ON TOP OF ALL THAT, I'm losing inches. I know I have gained a lot of muscle over the last yr. I am now teaching 2 exercise classes/wk while still going to 6:15 a.m. class 4 days/wk. Could the age & peri-menopause thing be affecting me? skippy. BUT, I'm NOT giving up, I will continue this WONDERFULLY fun & healthy journey. I LOVE my life, even if I'm not @ that model weight. I get frustrated, but it doesn't last long, especially when I'm in class & @ 45, I'm keeping up with the instructor who is just 3 yrs younger than I. I'm living, loving, & learning. The rest of my story is below...

*I am now shooting for Christmas to have my last 20#s off.*
OK, so the holidays got to me, & I gained a little instead of hitting my goal. The most I've gained since starting this journey, but I'm NOT discouraged. Now I'm back to needing to lose 25#s, but I will do this, in time for our 25th Wedding Anniversary May 14th of this yr.

**OK, so I didn't make it for our anniversary, either. That's OK. I do worse when I have a deadline. Now that I have no deadline, I would just like to see myself @ goal b4 the end of summer. If I do, great, if not, I'm still healthier than I was 3 yrs ago @ this time. **

Well, here it is 1/2/09 & I'm back up to 177. This will be my year to get to goal. I still feel I'm making progress, b/c I didn't gain everything back & I'm still here. I REFUSE to accept my fate & throw in the towel. SP has been great, keeping me from totally going back to my old ways. Here's to a great new yr, 2009!

MAGIC10FINGERS is disgusted it takes SO LITTLE to flare up the burning down the spine & around the scapula. I did NOTHING but the elliptical, what gives?

My Goals:
To be @ my goal weight of 141 by our 27th Wedding Anniversary May 14th, 2010.



My Program:
*Working with a trainer, working out 5-6 days/wk
*trying to do away with refined sugars
*I'm done with diet pops.
*watch my sodium (high BP)
*NO [partially] hydrogenated oils
*NO high fructose corn syrup
*NO artificial sweeteners
*Watching my macros
*I'm now teaching 2 exercise classes/wk!

Personal Information:
I'm from Tekamah, 35 miles north of Omaha.
I have been very happily married 27 yrs with 3 great boys. 2 oldest are adults, & the youngest is in High School.
I am a licensed massage therapist with an office in my home.
My best friend is Bubbles43 but we live 1000 miles away from each other.

Thanks Ruth for the advice, Im feeling better today except for the tiredness but I never thought about the warm water for the feet, have always done the cold compress. I will try that one next round if there is one I can always hope they will go away permanently

Hi, I live northeast of Crescent, Iowa about 10 miles on a farm. Close to Omaha. I lived in Omaha until I married and then I moved to Iowa. I get into Omaha a couple times a week...weather permitting :)
