Good morning and happy Sunday to you!

I did walk yesterday - I got over 10,000 steps in which is huge for me. I did some of the walking after midnight on Saturday morning, but hey, I got out there.

3,000 is awesome! I bet you got in over a mile! :) Today I'm taking a rest day. The temperature just dropped here and I plan to get out on a walk tomorrow and also do a lot of household chores. Lol.

Over the years, struggles with your weight may have resulted in some damaging blows to your self esteem. Some of these may be self imposed, such as an inability to measure up to your own expectations. Others may come from family, friends, colleagues, or even strangers.

It's important to maintain a sense of self-worth. The better you feel about yourself, the better you'll take care of yourself. In addition, a positive self image has been linked to better health and a stronger immune system. When you value yourself, you feel more confident!

    emoticon PROTEIN BARS emoticon

Protein helps build muscle and can prevent overeating because it makes you feel fuller longer. But what about these protein bars - - are they a good choice? The New York Times cautions us to be aware of the sugar content and the calories when choosing a protein bar. Whey and soy are used as the protein source in most bars and lack taste and flavor so the makers of these bars add high fructose corn syrup and other low calorie sweeteners to make them taste good. The calorie count of these bars can also be high; close to two hundred and fifty calories and many have the same amount of calories and protein as a turkey sandwich which is not good for weight loss. The bottom line: choose unprocessed snacks like almonds or eggs to eat right after a vigorous workout instead of a processed protein bar.
