SPRING 5% CHALLENGE.

Can I "keep on keepin' on," maintain my 50 pound weight loss, and get to Onederland?

I'm starting this 8 week challenge not-feeling-well physically and feeling STRESSED emotionally and mentally.

I don't feel "fierce" (sorry Tiger Monarchs). I feel a bit fragile.

But I do WANT to continue this journey of sparking towards better health and happiness. I want to treat myself with gentleness and encouragement and trust ...

I want to treat myself with gentleness and encouragement and trust that two steps forward and one step back is OK.

Goals for the next 8 weeks:

I will sit and breathe for at least a few minutes most days.
I will log in to sparkpeople.com every day.
I will do the weekly challenges to the best of my ability.
I will have healthy food available at work so I can be sure to eat something good-for-me every three or four hours.
I will exercise 50 minutes/day, five days/week -- walking and stretching.
I will get to the Y at least once a week.
I will get up from my desk and MOVE throughout the day at work.
I will get down on the floor and get up at least once a day.
I will DO one of my many, many exercise/fitness videos I have and POST about it.

My Goals:
I want to not-go-back to my old ways. I want to eat healthy and exercise regularly.

My Program:
Diet Plan for the 5% Spring Challenge:
I will eat breakfast, and something healthy every 3-4 hours.
I will mindfully choose my afterwork/tv-viewing snack. I will limit salt-bad fats-and sugars.

Fitness Plan for 5% Winter Challenge:
I will GET UP and MOVE every 30-60 minutes at work...walk for at least 20 minutes/day... and stretch for 30-minutes each evening.
At least once a week I will get to the Y for the weights or the pool or do one of my exercise videos.

Personal Information:
I am in my fifties...and still figuring out who I am.

I have a good life and its getting better.

I still have a long way to go...and I'm still afraid of not-changing my life/my health the way I want to.

I am a minister and it is "embarrassing" to not-have-my-act-together.

I have long felt that John 10:10 was "my" Bible verse -- "I came that you might have life, life to the full."

I want to live a full life!

Other Information:
"Living healthy is hard.
Exercising is hard.
Losing weight is hard.
Being overweight is hard.
Being sick is hard.
Which 'hard' do you choose?"

February is another one of those months when stores create magical candy-filled displays. Inside those foil-covered heart-shaped boxes festooned with lace, ribbons and fake flowers are chocolates that have been rattling around in their cardboard container since October--and they taste like it.

Treat yourself to something sweet and delicious that tastes like real food--crisp apples, juicy grapes, fresh pineapple, or a perfectly ripened pear. Just say no to cardboard.
