Figuring it out slow and steady

A couple years ago I joined SparkPeople, lost 20 pounds, and ran my first 10k. Then I got busy for a few months, then I got pregnant, then I had a baby, and suddenly here I am two years later needing to get my mojo back.

I've managed to keep most of the weight off using the lifestyle changes I learned here, so my goal is to run another 10k. And my BIG goal is to ENJOY running a 10k.

Old introduction text: After years of maintaining my weight by not eating enough and not owning a car so having to walk and bike everywhere I went, I started working in an office, driving to work every day, and eating whatever was quickest in the microwave. Shockingly, I no longer fit into my pants. So I started exercising at a gym and keeping track of my calories and nutrition in April 2009, for the first time in my life. The weight loss part goes sloooooowly, so I try to stay motivated with short term goals.

My favorite goals: running! The thing I hated most as a kid is now one of my favorite activities--who knew? Having a race as a goal motivates me like nothing else.

I'm more or less in maintenance mode right now. I wouldn't mind losing 2 or 3 more pounds, but I'd rather build muscle. I intend to keep weighing myself regularly and not get above 140 pounds, but I don't track calories very frequently.

Thanks for your post on my blog about giving myself more time to allow my body to adjust to all of the new exercise and nutrition!

It helped a lot to ease my mind about the scale and focus more on how I feel!
