Figuring it out slow and steady
A couple years ago I joined SparkPeople, lost 20 pounds, and ran my first 10k. Then I got busy for a few months, then I got pregnant, then I had a baby, and suddenly here I am two years later needing to get my mojo back. A couple years ago I joined SparkPeople, lost 20 pounds, and ran my first 10k. Then I got busy for a few months, then I got pregnant, then I had a baby, and suddenly here I am two years later needing to get my mojo back. I've managed to keep most of the weight off using the lifestyle changes I learned here, so my goal is to run another 10k. And my BIG goal is to ENJOY running a 10k. Old introduction text: After years of maintaining my weight by not eating enough and not owning a car so having to walk and bike everywhere I went, I started working in an office, driving to work every day, and eating whatever was quickest in the microwave. Shockingly, I no longer fit into my pants. So I started exercising at a gym and keeping track of my calories and nutrition in April 2009, for the first time in my life. The weight loss part goes sloooooowly, so I try to stay motivated with short term goals. My favorite goals: running! The thing I hated most as a kid is now one of my favorite activities--who knew? Having a race as a goal motivates me like nothing else. I'm more or less in maintenance mode right now. I wouldn't mind losing 2 or 3 more pounds, but I'd rather build muscle. I intend to keep weighing myself regularly and not get above 140 pounds, but I don't track calories very frequently.
