MARTHA-ANN is a SparkPeople Motivator!
Hi I'm Martha-Ann.
I WILL endeavour to reach the goal I've set myself.
I CAN do it.
I want to be healthier and eat better.
I've had a few health problems, still a couple left, but I've beaten cancer and now I'm just getting on with life.
I love SparkPeople.
It has everything I could ask for.
Good advice, great ideas but most of all friendship.
The people I've met through this site are wonderful and are helping me towards a better, healthier way of life.
This is a Sanskrit proverb by the fifth century poet Kalidasa, it seems to sum things up perfectly.
Salutation to the Dawn.
Listen to the Salutation of the Dawn!
Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and verities of existence.
The bliss of growth,
The splendour of action,
The glory of power...
For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.
Such is the salutation of the dawn!
I want to feel more confident about myself.
I want to be as fit and healthy as I can.
I want to live to see my grandchildren (and possibly their children) grow up and be healthy and fit enough to enjoy them.
I want to work on small goals of 10lbs and give myself a small reward everytime I hit one.
I want to see a 'new' me!!
Daily exercising, going for long walks, gardening.
It is not a diet, it's a healthy eating programme.
It's a way of life and it's going to be MY way of life for the rest of MY life!
I'm from Yorkshire, England...we call it 'God's Own Country'.
I live in a small village in the country but am only a few miles from the sea so I have the best of both worlds.
I'm 66 years young.
My DH and I have been happily married for 44 years.
I'm a wife, mother, grandma, nana, niece, cousin, aunt and great aunt.
I'm retired from primary education, l had to take early retirement due to illness and after a long struggle l'm now cancer free and back to being part of my community again.
I decided to lose weight and get healthy and am now working towards that goal.
l've been diagnosed with polymyalgia rheumatica which is a bit of a challenge but l will conquer it.
My hobbies are very varied, everything from puzzles to zentangles, reading to gardening, walking to birdwatching, writing to photography.
I love language too, the nuances and foibles, so I enjoy dabbling with writing and poetry...my son once called me a wordsmith...I wish I lived up to it!

Good Morning - finally woke up and had a shower to help get me awake!! Have not slept well the past couple of nights. Not sure why - am comfortable and not worrying about anything. But really did sleep last night!!
It is overcast here this morning and will probably rain some. Am thinking we are having more rain here than usual - and after all that snow. But, is good for the flowers. The crocuses are about finished blooming and the daffodils are all out in all their glory. My neighbor has a bed of the miniatures and they are so bright and cheerful.
Sol glad you were able to meet with friends - and have a good visit. And am sure they were happy to have you with them again!! I so enjoy the gals I meet with Mondays - such a fun bunch!!
Praying the new meds are helpful - back pain can be so tiresome.
Happy that you are doing better -

Good Morning, Miss Sunshine,
Just checking to make sure you are "around"! You are certainly encouraging me to make some positive changes!!
Gotta get moving this morning - meeting Elaine at the DoNut Shop for our Bible study - and then some errands. It is supposed to warm up some today but is still overcast - so will see what the day brings.

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers - will so enjoy them.
Am slow getting around this morning - was up late so slept in. But will be out and about later. Will be meeting with fellow knitters this afternoon - always such a fun group.
So happy that you are "back on track" and pray you will soon be able to play in the dirt. I too love to play - just wish I could do more, but will just do what I can.
Have a great day - and will "see" you later!!

Well, the snow was gone - and this morning I met Elaine at the DoNut Shop for our "weekly" - had such a good visit. And just was we were leaving, it started to snow again - just a few small flakes. But it has been snowing big flakes for the past hour or so and it ground it now white again.
Just so glad for my small warm apartment - and freezer full of food so I can hibernate - again!! Have my sewing and knitting - and my computer and son to keep me company.
I see that you are having a struggle with the weather too. Will be so glad when Spring brings warmer weather and we can get out once again.

It is overcast here this morning and they are predicting about 3 or 4 inches of snow in the next couple of days. :( And you know how I feel about the snow. Had so hoped we had seen the last of it for this year.
So, am going to the grocery store to stock up again - so I can "hibernate". Am sewing on Geoff's quilt - so will be busy. Will post some pictures when I get it better organized. He wants it loooong - to cover his feet when he turns in bed.
No knitting projects right now - just finished a pair of slippers for the Warming Station. It is open nights for the homeless when the temp drops below freezing. And knit socks for Geoff and a pair for Norris, my son-in-law, who lives in Salem. Don't get to see them much since it is about 250 miles from here.
This afternoon will be meeting with fellow knitters - always a fun time.
Glad you are having some sunshine today!!
