A 'new' me.

Hi I'm Martha-Ann.
I WILL endeavour to reach the goal I've set myself.
I CAN do it.
I want to be healthier and eat better.
I've had a few health problems but I've beaten cancer and now I'm just getting on with life.

I love SparkPeople.
It has everything I could ask for.
Good advice, great ideas but most of all friendship.
The people I've met through this site are wonderful and are helping me towards a better, healthier way of life.

THANKYOU.

This is a Sanskrit proverb by the fifth century poet Kalidasa, it seems to sum things up perfectly.

Salutation to the Dawn.

Listen to the salutation of the dawn!
Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and verities of existence.

The bliss of growth,
The splendour of action,
The glory of power...

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.
Such is the salutation of the dawn!

My Goals:
I want to feel more confident about myself.

I want to be as fit and healthy as I can.

I want to live to see my grandchildren (and possibly their children) grow up and be healthy and fit enough to enjoy them.

I want to work on small goals of 10lbs and give myself a small reward everytime I hit one.

I want to see a 'new' me!!

My Program:
Daily exercising, going for long walks, gardening.

Eating healthily.
It is not a diet, it's a healthy eating programme.
It's a way of life and it's going to be MY way of life for the rest of MY life!

Personal Information:
I'm from Yorkshire, England...we call it 'God's Own Country'.

I live in a small village in the country but am only a few miles from the sea so I have the best of both worlds.

I'm 66 years young.

My DH and I have been happily married for 43 years.

I'm a wife, mother, grandma, nana, niece, cousin, aunt and great aunt.

Other Information:
My hobbies are very varied, everything from puzzles to zentangles, reading to gardening, walking to birdwatching, writing to photography.
I love language too, the nuances and foibles, so I enjoy dabbling with writing and poetry...my son once called me a wordsmith...I wish I lived up to it!

Thanks Martha-Ann for my New Year Goodie!!
I hope you have a wonderful 2015.
You did so great in 2014!

I am raring to start the new year with more contentment in my life and to continue losing my weight, learning to eat more healthy, and learning to be me.
I am enjoying my life even though my thoughts are with Charlie many times. He passed away one year ago yesterday.

forgive my lapses!! it is hard to have much energy working full time and I wanted to say how PROUD I am of your achievemnts. You have worked and persisted so hard for so long, nobody deserves this more than YOU!! I am setting as one of my goals checking in to sparkpals and boards three times a week, and will begin my babysteps that have fallen along the way with yet another change in my daily routines and my health. always a balancing act. always acceptance to even BEGIN!

Oh, dear Martha,
Hard to believe another year has passed. And what a year it has been. We finally got my Sister settled. We were able to place her ashes with Dad and that was such a blessing for me.

Then came Christmas - and that can be a stressful time - because of the distance between Geoff and Kathi. This year i did very little for Christmas - did a bit of decorating, but not shop for gifts. So I just went to my Daughter's for dinner and to visit some after. Geoff chose to stay home - but that was his choice. And had a wonderful time - even my ex was there and was a bit more "civilized" this time. He can get off on times past and not let go sometimes. And my Granddaughter and her husband were there with little Aiden - now 5. And what a cutie.

So now am looking forward to a New Year - and wondering what surprises God has planned for us. But, I know He is in control - and whatever happens it will be for His Glory and for my best.

I hope you had a very Blessed Christmas and are looking forward to a New Year full of life and many new treasures!!

Love,
barb

Just a quick note to let you know that my Sister died Friday morning. Will miss her so!

My Son, Gordon, came over from Vancouver yesterday (about 200 miles) but will have to go back this afternoon. We did go out to dinner last night with family and will go to church this morning. Then we will all go for breakfast before he heads home.

Thank you so much for all your thoughts thru the time that we have been in touch. Your notes have meant so much to me!!

Love,
barb
