Hi I'm Martha-Ann.
I WILL endeavour to reach the goal I've set myself.
I CAN do it.
I want to be healthier and eat better.
I've had a few health problems, still a couple left, but I've beaten cancer and now I'm just getting on with life.

I love SparkPeople.
It has everything I could ask for.
Good advice, great ideas but most of all friendship.
The people I've met through this site are wonderful and are helping me towards a better, healthier way of life.

This is a Sanskrit proverb by the fifth century poet Kalidasa, it seems to sum things up perfectly.

Salutation to the Dawn.

Listen to the Salutation of the Dawn!
Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and verities of existence.

The bliss of growth,
The splendour of action,
The glory of power...

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision.
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.

Look well, therefore, to this day.
Such is the salutation of the dawn!

I want to see a 'new' me!!

My Program:
Daily exercising, going for long walks, gardening.

Eating healthily.
It is not a diet, it's a healthy eating programme.
It's a way of life and it's going to be MY way of life for the rest of MY life!

Personal Information:
I'm from Yorkshire, England...we call it 'God's Own Country'.

My DH and I have been happily married for 45 years.

I'm a wife, mother, grandma, nana, niece, cousin, aunt and great aunt.

I'm retired from primary education, l had to take early retirement due to illness and after a long struggle l'm now cancer free and back to being part of my community again.
I decided to lose weight and get healthy and am now working towards that goal.
l've been diagnosed with spondylolisthes and spinal arthritis which is a bit of a challenge but l will conquer it.

Other Information:
My hobbies are very varied, everything from puzzles to zentangles, reading to gardening, walking to birdwatching, writing to photography.
I love language too, the nuances and foibles, so I enjoy dabbling with writing and son once called me a wordsmith...I wish I lived up to it!

I haven't seen bats here for a long time. There are a lot around the Air Force Plant not far from us.

Just looked at your new pictures on - so good. Son, Geoff, always enjoys your pictures too.

My youngest, Gordon, has come from the Seattle area for the weekend. Last Sunday was his birthday and tomorrow is Geoff's. So today we are meeting their Dad for lunch at the local Japanese restaurant. Will be a good time.

It is warming up here - into the high 80s. Gotta get more flowers to put out. And really need to do some watering.

    Have a good weekend.

    Oh, Martha,
Thanks so much for the cleaning service - will be so good to have all the cleaning done!!!

Many years ago, when Dick, my ex-, was still in school, I was doing day care in our home. During that time, our 2nd was born, a son, Greg. So the couples i babysat for got me diaper service for 6 months. Oh, and what a God-send. So convenient. - I even continued it until Greg was out of diapers.

I may even continue this cleaning service - yesterday evening while I was washing dished, I told Geoff, i am tired of washing dishes - seems like I just put them in the cupboard and they are back in the sink. Now what goes with that?????

Anyway - have a good day.
    Tons of love your way!!

Still have not cleaned out my pickup - and have put more newspapers in it to take to recycle. Did let them pile up this winter so need to get them out of here.

It is cool here today - partly cloudy and a bit of sun trying to peek thru. Planning to just stay in. Am knitting a shawl for me for next winter and want to get it finished. It is a fun knit, but is taking longer than I had expected.

Also am doing some major cleaning in the kitchen. Will do a bit more today - probably just clean off the top of the fridge and freezer. I tend to neglect those two spots.

Get better!! Am sure your hubby wants you able to take those long walks with him.
