One year ago I decided to take my life back! My cholesterol was high, I was having heart palpatations, and I felt hopeless! My wakeup call came from my cardiologist who gave me 3 months to lower the cholesterol or go on medications! As you can see below, mission accomplished!
Since that date, I have lost 50 pounds (20 in the months before), I have participated in 4 5Ks, and I have met awesome friends through Spark People to help me through the journey!
I surprised not only my doctor, but myself! At this point, there is no doubt that I will one day succeed! I have the tools I need to get me where I want to go and my support system is in place. This is my life! I choose where I go from here, and I choose health!

Well, friends, here I am, 1 1/2 years into my jouney, and it appears that I am trying to gain all of my weight back! I am now up 30 pounds from my original 70 that I lost the first year!
My goal this summer is to get back to that confident, healthy, woman you see in the picture to the left, who is ready to conquer those mountains! I am ready and I believe that I can do it again!
I have joined a 5% Summer team to help me along the way. I am now on the Champions in the Kitchen team and I am very excited to get to know and cheer on my new teammates!
Hopefully, next time I update this page, it will be to tell you how I have succeeded over the summer!
Fall 5% Challenge Exercise Commitment :
~10,000 Steps daily
~Strength Training - 5 minute mini sessions 3 times per day.
I started my journey eating whole foods, drinking 8 glasses of water per day, and jogging or Kettlebells for my exercise. I changed up my program for a while, but have now gone back to what worked for me!
I am a Texas girl! I love music and am on the worship team at my church singing and playing keyboard. I have 2 kids away at college and 1 bonus baby still living at home! I am trying to change my health and my life by making one good choice at a time. I forgive myself when I mess up and move on. I love the support and success I have found on SparkPeople!!!
