Slimming Curves

Hi, I'm Mel, and this is my slimming journey. I've battled extra weight since my Sophomore year of college. It also runs in my family (as does high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease).

I've been tracking my weight and measurements since 2008 when I was just 143 pounds. Since then I've gone both down and up in weight and measurements. At one point I lost a decent amount of inches and weight using a different online blogging/buddy making/food and exercise tracking website. I knew that tracking things kept me accountable and kept me going. When I did my weekly weigh-in on June 10th and was up 9 pounds from 2 weeks before, I knew I had to do something.

Since last September I've been consistently working out 3-4 times a week and have seen changes in my muscle tone and face, but almost nothing on the scale or measurements. In fact, since September I've gained 7 pounds! Through SparkPeople I'm hoping to change all that. My ultimate goal is to slim down a bit more for my wedding in September. However, after I reach my goal weight (which if I lose 1-2 pounds a week should happen in mid-November), I want to learn how to maintain my goal weight so I won't have to work so hard to lose the inches and pounds again. This will require a change in my attitude towards food.

I love working out. It makes me feel good and sleep so much better! I know that the food I eat is my ultimate downfall. I'm hoping to learn healthier habits, so one day I won't have to track my food and calories in order to lose or maintain weight.

To slim down to where I was in 2008 when I was 132 pounds. Even if I weigh a bit more than that, I'd be happy if I can get down to the same waist size.

2-3 spin classes a week (since May)
Hula Hooping Boot Camp (since Jan. 10th, 2015)
Fight-to-Fit 1-2 classes a week

I'm also tracking what I eat and being careful to stay within the 1,200-1,500 calories range recommended by SparkPeople

Thanks for that article! That is exactly what is happening, even though I hate it! I am growing stronger day by day, it's incredible. I was amazed at how many modified pushups I could do today and pretty easily (compared to a week ago). I never had this stubborn weight can when exercising before, but I also have never been this out of shape before.

I've joined that I challenge you to.. thread, it's pretty fun! Good recommendation :)

Yikes, eating out is the problem when with friends or traveling. But today is a new day, and you're doing great! Glad you're back at it, it really does make all the difference in the world.

I'm doing well. I've joined SP's Spring Into Bootcamp Challenge that has me exercising everyday, and it's really helping me! I've gained weight from it so far, but I've heard that is to be expected. Hopefully next week I will see my hard work pay off. My body already feel leaner and slimmer, I love it! Much more energy too. I hear you on the melting snow and warmer weather, omg I love it!!
