Slimming Curves

Hi, I'm Mel, and this is my slimming journey. I've battled extra weight since my Sophomore year of college. It also runs in my family (as does high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease).

I've been tracking my weight and measurements since 2008 when I was just 143 pounds. Since then I've gone both down and up in weight and measurements. At one point I lost a decent amount of inches and weight using a different online blogging/buddy making/food and exercise tracking ...

At one point I lost a decent amount of inches and weight using a different online blogging/buddy making/food and exercise tracking website. I knew that tracking things kept me accountable and kept me going. When I did my weekly weigh-in on June 10th and was up 9 pounds from 2 weeks before, I knew I had to do something.

Since last September I've been consistently working out 3-4 times a week and have seen changes in my muscle tone and face, but almost nothing on the scale or measurements. In fact, since September I've gained 7 pounds! Through SparkPeople I'm hoping to change all that. My ultimate goal is to slim down a bit more for my wedding in September. However, after I reach my goal weight (which if I lose 1-2 pounds a week should happen in mid-November), I want to learn how to maintain my goal weight so I won't have to work so hard to lose the inches and pounds again. This will require a change in my attitude towards food.

I love working out. It makes me feel good and sleep so much better! I know that the food I eat is my ultimate downfall. I'm hoping to learn healthier habits, so one day I won't have to track my food and calories in order to lose or maintain weight.

Here's to a slimmer future!

My Goals:
To slim down to where I was in 2008 when I was 132 pounds. Even if I weigh a bit more than that, I'd be happy if I can get down to the same waist size.

170 - a new book
160 - an item from my Amazon wish list
150 - a new perfume
140 - hour-long massage
135 (goal!) - a new dress-up outfit

Ultimate Measurement Goals:
Bust: 35
Underbust: 29.75
Belly button: 31.25
Butt: 39
Underbutt: 39

Mid-Goal Measurements and Weight:
Weight: 160
Bust: 36.5
Underbust: 31.25
Belly button: 34
Butt: 41.75
Underbutt: 42

My Program:
Since my gym closed the other week (June 6th was my last day of class), I've been taking 2 spin classes a week and trying to get my fiancee to go for a bike ride or hike at least once a week.

I'm also tracking what I eat and being careful to stay within the 1,200-1,500 calories range recommended by SparkPeople

Thanks for stopping by--I'm finding intangible rewards are so much better for me than an actual number on the scale or tape measure. Woo-hoo!

The SPAT would record general activity then I would manually choose the activity (they have several biking speeds to choose from) then it re classifies the activity and gives you steps and mileage. For instance for 87 min recorded I picked biking 11-12 mi per hour and it gave me 13,572 steps and 18 mi.

My SPAT tracked my outdoor biking as general activity and then I had to manually classify it as biking. I would retest it for you but I gave it away. I hope this helps.
