Time to Be My Best

My name is McKenzie. I am constantly looking for motivation to eat better, workout harder and lead a healthier lifestyle. I feel like I've been stuck in the same place for a long time.

I happen to also be a registered dietitian. Although I've learned a lot about what healthy eating is through school & my profession, I am also human. I love foods like French onion dip, chips, and beer Healthy eating doesn't always come easy and wasn't something I grew up with.

I am always aiming to eat less processed foods, eat more fruits and veggies. Although I'd love to lose a few pounds, I'd really like to tone up.

I tend to follow programs better than making up workouts myself. I've tried my hand at Insanity, Jillian Michael's Body Revolution, and most recently T25. I ran my first (and probably only) half marathon in 2013, and am always looking for new ways to mix up my workouts!

Since mid-2009, my husband and I have been trying to conceive without success. Through Spark I have met amazing women going through similar experiences and am using Spark to connect with them and also keep my eating & exercise in check.

One of my favorite quotes is "A year from now you'll look back and wish you started today". Every year, I wish I had done what I set out to do. Every day is a new day to be my best.

My Goals:
*Eat more fruits & veggies, especially on the weekends

*Eat less processed foods

*Cut back on my alcohol intake

*Eat healthier on weekends

*Constantly challenge myself in health & fitness

My Program:
Since the start of 2014, I've been focusing more on strength training through the T25 Program and Tone It Up videos. I also do cardio using these programs, in addition to running, biking, and walking with my husband & dog, or my sister and my niece.

I do Zumba a few times each month, and recently found an Insanity class I plan to attend monthly when it fits with my work schedule.

I will! I thought PiYo looked really challenging and a friend told me she absolutely loved it. My choice will probably come down to bonuses at work and tax money and various needs/wants and then the cost. I'm definitely excited to embark on a new program after the new year~!

Sorry for the delayed response. I'm slowly getting my butt back in gear after vacation and other end of summer activities.

There's a lot of false advertising about Shakeology. I've actually made my bag of Chocolate Shakeology last 8 weeks, making it $2 a serving. That's less than some fast food meals these days.

I found out that there's a PiYO certification course being offered in my area next month. I can't wait! I just hope it's in our budget. We're putting my son in early learning child care starting next week. We're soooo excited but interested to see how this will impact our bottomline.

Thank you for the comment on my page. Which shakeology flavor do you have? I've heard that the vegan flavors can be a little gritty. The regular chocolate seems to be okay though.

That's awesome about your friend. That's not a bad idea. I'd love to get mroe informatoin about becoming a certified PiYo instructor. So far I'm loving it!

Thanks!! I was starting to worry maybe SP is super off...
Yea, I really like the favorites and groupings options on SP so much. Especially the groupings. I've started just doing a grouping with the date of the meal I made if it was large, and then I add the percent of it later. This is new and really good, I believe, since everything I make is a little different each time.
