Words vs actions
At 44, I have spent more time thinking about how I am going to get in shape than I have actually DOING anything about it. Talk is sooo easy - and actions show the reality of your beliefs. In many areas of my life, I have made an effort to show my beliefs through my actions. In this area, though? Not so much. I teach children in a private school - what am I teaching them about taking care of themselves if I don't take care of me? I just had a few days of a reality check - imposed on me by ...

I teach children in a private school - what am I teaching them about taking care of themselves if I don't take care of me? I just had a few days of a reality check - imposed on me by my mind and body. I'm making decisions - one at a time - to bless my body.

My Goals:
Simply to reach my goals for exercise and eating right for each week. I apparently can't expect to lose at any particular rate, but I CAN take care of myself and the results will take care of themselves!
My Program:
Common sense based on sound health principles. 1. I try to eat within the calorie limits reasonable for my weight loss 2. Do aerobic activities a minimum of 5 days a week, 60 minutes at a time on days with no strength exercise, 45 minutes on days with strength exercise 3. Strength training a minimum of 4 days a week, 20 minutes at a time average
Personal Information:
I have 3 kids and 2 stepchildren, 6 grandchildren with another due at the end of April. I am very happily married to the love of my life - we just renewed our vows after 11 years of marriage. I teach at a small private school and am the academic dean there as well.
Other Information:
Going to use this to list the benefits I gain from a healthy way of living. 1. My resting heart rate has dropped from about 85 to 60!!! 2. looser pants 3. more stamina 4. better sleep 5. MUCH less difficulty with restless legs 6. Generally more relaxed and ... comfortable 7. I can feel my upper abdominal muscles when I am lying down and raise my head and shoulders! 8. My blood pressure has come down from about 126/80 to 110/68 9. More stamina :-)
