Obese and tired to ACTIVE Mom. If *I* can do it...
It's not all fireworks, but it's worth it...... Because I am worth it! My re-dedication to getting healthy started September of 2009. That's when I got back into walking, counting calories and a little strength training. Then I got introduced into a little wonderful thing called the BLC (Biggest Loser Challenge). Since then I have lost over 60 pounds! I ran a 5K! I not only ran the whole thing, I finished in 30:59! I found I needed more motivation to keep running, so I ran a second 5k! Then I ...
It's not all fireworks, but it's worth it...... Because I am worth it! My re-dedication to getting healthy started September of 2009. That's when I got back into walking, counting calories and a little strength training. Then I got introduced into a little wonderful thing called the BLC (Biggest Loser Challenge). Since then I have lost over 60 pounds! I ran a 5K! I not only ran the whole thing, I finished in 30:59! I found I needed more motivation to keep running, so I ran a second 5k! Then I started training for my first HALF MARATHON! Me? Really? YES, REALLY! I did it! I ran the Flying Pig in Cincinnati, ran the entire distance of 13.1 miles (in the rain...) and finished UNDER my goal time of 2:30! (2:27:58 to be exact!) A few more half marathons and a setback with my knee. What now?? "Do a triathlon" says a spark friend. Really? A tri? I don't know anything about that! I'm not a swimmer. I don't have a fancy road bike. Well... why the heck not?! The swimming and biking helped my knee recoup and more importantly, I learned a VERY valuable lesson during my tri. The quote "Dead Last Finish Beats Did Not Finish which greatly trumps Did Not Start" now has a genuine meaning to me. I finished DEAD LAST with a huge smile on my face. I'm not afraid of it any more! I'm finally seeing the changes reflected in the mirror AND my attitude, and I couldn't be prouder!! If *I* can do it, YOU can do it!

My Program:
Cutting portion sizes, eating in more often, MUCH fewer trips to eat out, exercising on my lunch breaks (walk/jog, stairs) and taking the kids outside when weather permits.
