Update: I am currently a 45 year old wife, mother of a rock star, and a daughter of Christ. I have 1 husband, 4 kids, 4 dogs, 2 cats, and a compulsive need to be a peace-keeper, which is not an easy job. I am warrior currently fighting the battle of the bulge (I may be losing), the aging process (I may be winning) and a teenage daughter (I AM winning...she just doesn't know it). I hope that not only my successes but my failures as well, will inspire, encourage, and motivate others on their journeys.

I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I was a shy, overweight child that was loved a little too much. Mom rewarded me with food, and grandma put seconds on my plate before I even asked for it. I think I started off a healthy lifestyle on the wrong foot, but now it's time to take control.

I'm trying to be as patient as possible, and focus on today and tomorrow, not yesterday. I'm in no rush to lose it either. I've learned that putting a date on when I should reach my goal frustrates me more than anything else. Each year, I get a little stronger, a little healthier, and more confident. That's more important than any number on the scale.

Fitness Minutes: 71,645

My Goals:
I want to be physically fit, and feel good about about myself. I told my doctor I'd love to be the weight I was in H.S., but that is probably unrealsistic. She said, "You can do anything you set your mind to." And she's right.

My Program:
Elimating all those simple carbs, watching my portion sizes, eating every few hours to keep the metabolism up and drinking plenty of water. And don't forget about getting active. I'm aiming for at least 150 minutes of cardio per week. I don't hate exercise, but cardio feels best when it's over. I'm also doing strength training cause I love muscular legs, and for a woman my size, I have really poor upper body strenghth. That needs to change!

Personal Information:
I've got a loving hubby (who wants to see me happy, not skinny) and 4 great kids to make proud. Heck, they make me proud every day. My oldest is 18, and my little one is 7. It's important that my girls see a healthy mom, that's comfortable with her body, not one that complains how fat she is.

I live in hot and humid Miami, and working out from May-October is absolutely dreadful.

I spent a ton of money earning a degree in Fine Art, and wound up becoming a housewife. No kids hand in incredible-looking it paid off.

Other Information:
I love cooking (which is how I got fat) and photography. Too busy to do much else. Some day, I would love to paint again.

    I reached 168 a few years ago. I saw your 169 photo. Isn't it glorious? I was happy but maintenance became a problem for me. I got back on track starting the new year 2017. I think I was up to 225. I'm back down to ....(well it was 184 when I went on vacation visiting family) I figure 187-190. Once I'm away from family food temptations I should be able to get back on track. Again!

    I love what you wrote about winning the battle but your teenage daughter doesn't know. That made me chuckle! 😄

    We can do this. I want to try to get to 150 by Christmas but even if it's 175, I'll be ecstatic!
