Hi, I'm here to finally gain the motivation to lose weight. When I get home from work I love to sit and have become quite the couch potato. Now that I'm a certain age it has gotten worse (the weight) and with all of the health problems in my family I want to change! I've also gained quite a few pounds since my wedding last June. I was very motivated before the wedding and then it slowly disappeared. I'm very excited to join Spark People. It looks like a great site to get information from and a great way for me to become motivated.

So far so good. I'm making extreme changes to my lifestyle and have never felt better about myself. My favorite song right now is Stronger Woman by Jewel The lyrics I relate to are: I'm gonna love myself More than anyone else. Believe in me even if someone can't see the Stronger woman in me. Those words relate to how I feel about myself and how I'm doing on SP.
I'm becoming a stronger woman and am starting to learn to love myself. Thanks for all the great comments. It's nice to know there are so many people supporting me in my journey.

The journey got me down to 143 pounds but then I got a new job and didn't have time to work out in the mornings (at least that is what I told myself). Slowly over the last two years my motivation went downhill and I gained all of my weight back plus some. I was 187 pounds-the heaviest I've ever been. Then in the town I live they opened a Snap Fitness. I joined in January and am back on track. I now weigh 172 pounds and have decided to start using Spark People after being gone for a couple of years but now am back! This is it. When I lose this weight I will remain healthy and not get heavy again!!!

February 18, 2013-I'm back. This morning I weighed myself and was back up to 171 pounds. After joining Snap Fitness more than a year ago I got down to 155 pounds this summer. I was so happy. But gradually over the past few months I have been indulging in fattening foods. I still exercise at least five times a week which I'm very proud of. I have never been an exerciser so the fact that I have kept at it for more than a year makes me proud. My downfall is eating. If there are goodies in the house or at my work I can't stop at just one but have to have at least three if not more. This includes cupcakes with sweet frosting (my downfall. I love frosting!) In December I gained weight due to the cookies and kept telling myself I would get back on track once the new year started especially since I have my brother's wedding in May. Well on Christmas day my in-laws had a house fire and are living with my husband and I until they rebuild this spring. Well my eating is out of control. We try to make meals that we all like and that includes high salt fattening meats with potatoes. They believe in only having a main meal and we don't have any vegetables on the side. I feel like I have to eat what they eat so no one feels bad. My portion sizes are out of control. When I looked at the scale and realized that once again I am up past 170 I knew I needed to come back to Spark people and start journaling and keeping track of my food intake again. I'm depressed and upset with myself. Why is this a never ending challenge? Why can't I just keep the weight off? Any supportive comments and help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Spark People.

emoticon for stopping by my blog. I'm hoping by looking at everything I have been doing/ not doing I can improve myself. It is really frustrating when your hard work is starting to undo itself. So I'm hoping these changes will get me back on track.

Thank you for sharing your health story! I have to avoid buffets as well, and potlucks are the worst! I agree, when you find something you like to eat, it can be extremely hard to say "Enough!" or "No more!"
