The Healthy Dad Project

I've been a member of spark for awhile now. I became a dad on January 1st, 2012. I have an amazing little boy named Lincoln.

Now that I am a dad, I want to be alive for as long as possible... not just alive, but healthy. I've struggled with weight throughout my entire adult life. My heaviest was about 10 years ago, I tipped the scales at 265 lbs, at my fittest (just before I met my wife) I was down to 170 lbs... That would account for all the "weight loss badges" on my sparkpage. ...

Now that I am a dad, I want to be alive for as long as possible... not just alive, but healthy. I've struggled with weight throughout my entire adult life. My heaviest was about 10 years ago, I tipped the scales at 265 lbs, at my fittest (just before I met my wife) I was down to 170 lbs... That would account for all the "weight loss badges" on my sparkpage. Throughout my marriage I've bounced around between 230, and 180.

As a Canadian it's tough for me in the winter. I have a deep seeded hate for treadmills. lol I love to run outside, cycle, hike... all that sort of outdoorsy stuff is great for 3 seasons, but winter always gets me. As I write this (march 19th 2013), I'm about 207 lbs.

I've decided that the only way I'm going to get healthy is to set a big ass goal for myself! Then create s bunch of smaller ones along the way... so here it goes.

Small goals:

Run 10k with my wife, and kid (in stroller) during a father's day run - It'll be a slow run for me, but a big challenge for my wife... I know she can do it!
Run neighboring communities 10 miler
Run our communities 10k
Run our communities triathlon 2 days after the 10k

Big Goal:
Bike 160 kms (The century) for the first time

Big Ass Goal:
Run a Marathon in September!

This would be my second marathon... I ran one back in 2010 with a time of 4:32 minutes. My goal is a sub 4 hour

Doing well. I do love my status I put that up because I keep having people tell me I can't eat that cause I'm on a diet, and I'm like no I live a healthy lifestyle but if I want a cookie I'll have one.
