Overcoming Pain and Becoming Who I Used To be Before Surgeries

I used to be Mr. YMCA. That is what people called me--the people I worked out with everyday. I worked part time for the Y as a wellness coach, and before that as a swimming coach. But my body began to betray me. I had spine surgery 4 years ago, which caused me to gain weight and flab, lots of it. I can no longer use machines that require me to stand--it hurts too much so I can only do seated exercises or the pool. I used to be Mr. YMCA. That is what people called me--the people I worked out with everyday. I worked part time for the Y as a wellness coach, and before that as a swimming coach. But my body began to betray me. I had spine surgery 4 years ago, which caused me to gain weight and flab, lots of it. I can no longer use machines that require me to stand--it hurts too much so I can only do seated exercises or the pool. But shoulder problems keep me from swimming the many laps I once did so I can only do exercises, which I like, but they do not burn calories like swimming miles used to do. Now, during recuperation from spine surgeries, I fell a number of times on my right knee, which was already damaged from other injuries when I was younger. So 2 months ago I had my right knee replaced, which made me gain more weight and flab. Here I am. My back is painful because the spinal fusion made my lumbar stiff, and I feel like a statue, the opposite of what I once was, a very limber, flexible, athletic guy. And my knee is recovering, but the back keeps me from being able to walk distances, which would help my knee. So I walk in water, which must help, and I do exercises in the water for an hour a day. But i need to return to the gym to lift weights and bicycle. And I must follow a low calorie diet. My metabolism needs me to be active. I must lose at least 50 pounds as quickly as possible. After I do that, I wil probably want to lose more. But 50 is my goal right now.

My Goals:
Lose 50 pounds as soon as possible. Work out in the gym, maybe do dance videos at home? I need suggestions for this. Be able to walk distances--diminish back pain from surgeries. Keep doing water exercises on days when I do not exercise in the gym.

My Program:
I am following my food plans, and exercising in the water, and I do my physical therapy routines daily, as well as see my therapist. I am also seeing a message therapist and enrolling in a Yoga class for the disabled.
