Brand new decade, brand new goals

I am called Raffie and I've been a member since the end of May 09 now and have come on here most days to blog, log food or exercise and chat on the community forums. Its all very motivating. Or at least I did come on daily. Due to a change of circumstances and a broken arm, my weight loss and fitness regime went to pieces and then we moved to Scotland! Where it all went horribly pear shaped so we moved back to Norfolk, where I grew up.

I am still a dog groomer, technically but I do a lot of dog walking now too, which is quite fun.

I am married to KENJACK and sometimes he even logs on here. I need to encourage him a bit more I think. We have been together nearly 10 years, married for just over 7 and we have known each other for ever. We were best friends, where there was one in trouble, the other was not very far away.

We have just moved into a 2 bedroomed, upstairs flat which is wonderful. The previous tenant seems to like sludge colours so we will be redecorating. Painting counts as exercise? Right? :-)
We have changed church as our old one is 19 miles away now and a bit of a hack so we have been to Hope Community Church, locally, a couple of times and quite like it there.

I have a small cycling addiction and have 3 bikes, a Giant Defy2 (aluminium) road bike, a Specialized Hardrock mountain bike and my fabulous new Planet X Carbon roadbike, which weighs a mere 7.75kg. There are barely any hills in Norfolk but the off road riding is fun and flat-ish. I also have a soup addiction, I love making it and eating it and have got this fat free soup making thing down to a fine art. So warming when I get in from a cold day's dog walking.
So that's me then. I'd love to chat to other Sparkies if you have the time. Anyone who'd like to friend me and ask any questions about my life and where I find the time to do everything in it, is more than welcome too.

Raffie

My Goals:
10% loss to begin with - 174lbs
168lbs - new tattoo
154lbs - new wardrobe
Anything less is a bonus and we'll cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

My Program:
Its mostly riding my bike. I am very lucky as I have 2 bikes. I have a nice fast road bike that cost a fortune but I don't care, I love it. My other bike is a good Mountain Bike. It was way cheaper as it was second hand but it would have been over £400 new, so definitely a 'good' bike.
I am a dog walker/groomer for a living so I like to walk quickly and up & down hills when the opportunity arises.
I loathe the gym, really I hate it. Abs are boring and upset my back so its cycling and walking all the way for me. I might invest in a ball at some point but our home is tight on space and I am not sure where I would actually store it.

Personal Information:
I'm actually Scottish but grew up in England sort of. Parents in the forces so lived all over the place until I was a mid teenager or so.
I live in East Anglian area of the UK, quite near the sea which I like.
Married to my wonderful husband with a family consisting of 3 dogs.
We live in a upstairs flat on the edge of a very old market town. We have a large garden and excellent walking right on the doorstep which is perfect for the dogs.

Other Information:
I love movies, I love going to the movies and try to avoid the popcorn, generally a futile gesture though. I like exercise, reading books - especially Jasper Fforde and Agatha Christie. I love my guitars and play every day.
I work with dogs and drive a lovely old Rover as I can get everyone in, get across country - its a real workhorse.

On this Memorial Day Weekend as we remember and honor those who have served our country I am sharing a beautiful song by the Gaither Vocal Band, Let Freedom Ring (to hear it copy and paste this link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVVbSXz7
jaU )

Deep within the heart has always known that there was freedom
Somehow breathed into the very soul alive
The prisoner, the powerless, the saved have always known it
There?s something that keeps reaching for the sky

Even life begins because a baby fights for freedom
And songs we love to sing have freedom?s theme
Some have walked through fire and flood to find a place of freedom
And some faced hell itself for freedom?s dream

Let freedom ring wherever minds know what it means to be in chains
Let freedom ring wherever hearts know pain
Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
We can be free and we can sing --- let freedom ring

God built freedom into every fiber of creation
And He meant for us to all be free and whole
When my Lord bought freedom with the blood of His redemption
His cross stamped pardon on my very soul

I?ll sing it out with every breath, I?ll let the whole world hear it
This hallelujah anthem of the free
That iron bars and heavy chains can never hold us captive
The Son has made us free and free indeed

Let freedom ring down through the ages from a hill called Calvary
Let freedom ring wherever hearts know pain
Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
You can be free and you can sing let freedom ring
Let freedom echo through the lonely streets where prisons have no key
You can be free and you can sing let freedom ring
You can be free and you can sing --- let freedom ring --- let freedom ring

From CML team These lyrics from Tenth Avenue North have spoken to me especially when I am struggling. I hope they minister to you.

"Worn"

Iím Tired Iím worn
My heart is heavy
From the work it takes
To keep on breathing
Iíve made mistakes
Iíve let my hope fail
My soul feels crushed
By the weight of this world

And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
Thatís frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all thatís dead inside can be reborn
Cause Iím worn

I know I need to lift my eyes up
But I'm too weak
Life just wonít let up
And I know that you can give me rest
So I cry out with all that I have left

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
Thatís frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all thatís dead inside can be reborn
Cause Iím worn

My prayers are wearing thin
Yeah, Iím worn
Even before the day begins
Yeah, Iím worn
Iíve lost my will to fight
Iím worn
So, heaven come and flood my eyes

Let me see redemption win
Let me know the struggle ends
That you can mend a heart
Thatís frail and torn
I wanna know a song can rise
From the ashes of a broken life
And all thatís dead inside can be reborn
Cause all thatís dead inside will be reborn

Though Iím worn
Yeah Iím worn

Please stop by the team and get involved. And please continue to pray for CyclingSandy and her husband.

From CML team
Tomorrow is Easter - Jesus is Risen! Here are the lyrics of a new song by Kari Jobe "Forever" that expresses our hope in Jesus

The moon and stars they wept
The morning sun was dead
The Savior of the world was fallen
His body on the cross
His blood poured out for us
The weight of every curse was broken

One final breath He gave
As Heaven looked away
The Son of God was laid in darkness
A battle in the grave
The war on death was waged
The power of hell forever broken

The ground began to shake
The stone was rolled away
His perfect love could not be overcome
Now death where is your sting
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated

Forever, He is glorified
Forever, He is lifted high
Forever, He is risen
He is alive
He is alive
