Hi! I'm Courtney, and with the help of SparkPeople I've made positive lifestyle changes. These include eating well, exercising regularly, and staying positive. As a result I feel great and look fantastic! Even though I'm still a work in progress, every day I benefit from making myself a priority.

The best part is my blood pressure is under control! I'm optimistic my doctor will let me off the medication.

Healthy changes in my life include:
I no longer eat fast food or drink soda.
I rarely eat junk food (such as candy and chips).
I eat three meals and two snacks every day.
I control my portions. They no longer control me.
I exercise 5-6 times a week to build muscle and burn fat.
I drink lots of water and the occasional iced tea.
I do splurge every now and then - a slice of cake on ones birthday is a good thing!

Unexpected changes include:
My shoe size used to be 10 WW. I now wear a 9.5 M.
My watches are all too big.
My old glasses fall off my face.

I'm very thankful for all my supportive friends as well as all the wonderful supportive members on SparkPeople.

I've tried losing weight on my own a number of times. I did Weight Watchers in 2007 and failed miserably. It wasn't the right time or the right program for me and my busy lifestyle.

I started exercising using my elliptical machine on April 1, 2008. I joined SparkPeople on April 28 to help me track my exercise progress, develop a healthy eating plan, and set obtainable goals. SparkPeople has kept me motivated, focused, and goal-oriented. The added support of my teams (especially Done! Girls and Academia) keep my spirits up and the scale moving down.

In 2008, I lost about 20 pounds and learned a lot about my body. I reminded myself frequently that slow and steady wins the race.

In 2009, I stayed in the fight losing another 20 pounds. It ended up being a stressful year of change, being overworked, and disappointments. Not only did I get through it, but I kept myself a priority channeling any and all negative energy into exercise and eating the right stuff.

Today (May 2010), I'm really starting to blossom. I've lost 55 pounds, have low to normal blood pressure, and I look and feel great. I consistently eat well and exercise. I genuinely feel really good about my progress. Every day more people are starting to notice and tell me how great I look.

My Goals:
Get to a healthier weight. I'm learning that slow and steady is the pace for success.

Look better. There's an hourglass figure to reveal and I'm down with having healthy curves.

Feel better by having more energy.

Lower my blood pressure. Done!

Do it because I know I can.

My Program:
Cardio: 5-6 times per week
Strength: 2-3 times per week

3 healthy meals a day
3 healthy snacks a day

Spark to stay focused and motivated.
