Mindful of the journey!

I joined the 5% Winter Challenge. As a member of the Awesome A's (yea back on the team) I commit to at least 300 minutes of cardio exercise weekly, along with additional strength training. I will stay within my calorie range daily and will be sticking closely to the "Spark Solution" 2 week diet and a plan based on more veggies than meat. I will support my team by logging my fitness minutes and LTGL points daily, weigh-in on Saturday’s, and check in with my teammates daily through group posts ...

I look forward to a successful 8 week challenge!!!

I have been a member of Spark People since March of 2010. My commitment level has varied from day/week/month, but I have continued the journey. I know that losing the weight is just part of the equation. Every day is about making better choices than the day before, and choosing the healthiest option available. Also, trying to find the balance and keep it all in moderation.

I hit my initial goal weight in early 2011, and then revised it to the middle of my normal BMI. I was within 9 pounds of the revised goal, when I had some injuries that side-lined me. Replaced some old unhealthy habits with some new unhealthy habits, and packed on the pounds over the next year. Then came 2013. I was exercising like a fiend, at least 4000 calories per week in cardio alone, and staying within calorie range. The weight just kept piling on. After my doctor ran a bunch of tests, an auto-immune disease was diagnosed a few weeks ago. He feels a lot of the weight issue can be explained by that. I start seeing a nutritionist on Jan 28th to help with a manageable eating plan. I am committed to getting back on track by eating healthier, living a more active lifestyle, and regular exercise. So my mantra is "One choice at a time." I can do this!!!
