I joined the 5% 2017 Winter Challenge. I commit to at least 300 minutes of exercise weekly. I haven't been very active the last six months. It's time to shake it up again! I will stay within my calorie range daily. I had been working with a different nutritionist, and my food plan is based on her recommendations. I will get back on that track again. It includes eating much more protein daily. I will support my team by logging my fitness minutes and LTGL points daily, weigh-in on Saturday's, and check in with my teammates daily through group posts and their blogs, offering encouragement where I can. I look forward to a successful 8 week challenge!!!

I have been a member of Spark People since March of 2010. My commitment level has varied from day/week/month, but I have continued the journey. I know that losing the weight is just part of the equation. Every day is about making better choices than the day before, and choosing the healthiest option available. Also, trying to find the balance and keep it all in moderation.

I hit my initial goal weight in early 2011, and then revised it to the middle of my normal BMI. I was within 9 pounds of the revised goal, when I had some injuries that side-lined me. Replaced some old unhealthy habits with some new unhealthy habits, and packed on the pounds over the next year. Then came 2013. I was exercising like a fiend, at least 4000 calories per week in cardio alone, and staying within calorie range. The weight just kept piling on. After my doctor ran a bunch of tests, an auto-immune disease was diagnosed. I worked with a nutritionist, my doctor referred me to, for a few months to help with a manageable eating plan. I am committed to getting back on track by eating healthier, living a more active lifestyle, and regular exercise. So my mantra is "One choice at a time." I can do this!!!

Thank you for your comment - yes, today is a new day to start again. I felt pretty sad this morning but that's passed and I'm ready to face a new day! Tom has a brother who's a mechanic and while he may not be able to fix the car for us, he will probably know someone who can do it less expensively. We're hoping it will be less than our $1000 deductible so we don't have to go out to the insurance company. I guess accidents happen, which is why they're called accidents - I just haven't had one since the kids were here and that's a long time.
