Hi I'm Maureen and I rejoined Sparks on 9/14/10 after putting on 30 lbs within 2 years. Yikes!

6/16/11 ~ It's unbelievable what Sparks has done for me. I completely stopped running in 2000 and within 10 days of rejoining Sparks I was running again. And I'm not just running anymore, I'm training for Catalina's Marathon Nov 2011 and if all goes well Catalina's 50 miler Jan 2012!

12/30/13 - Well, I've had a few marathons under my belt, and even completed 44 miles of Catalina's 50. :) I've toyed with clean eating, and daily yoga/meditation sessions since joining Sparks. My problem has been that I've never successfully incorporated all 3, exercise, clean eating, and meditation, in at the same time. Hoping to change all that in 2014.

I normally fast on Mon, Wed, & Friday.... I've taken a break the last couple of weeks to shake things up but plan on starting again next week. When I first started doing fasting I tried one day a week and then went to 2 days a week for quite a while. I moved up to 3 days a week eventually and found that worked best for me. My calorie count for those days is typically around 500 calories. I tend to skip breakfast and lunch and then eat dinner with the family. IT's important to find what works best for you. The Every Other Day Diet is the original source of research I believe. I've read the books and honestly I wouldn't recommend buying them as most of the info is divulged in the documentary but borrowing them from the library would be perfect. It's certainly interesting research and caught my interest right away. It agrees with me and although I find the first week can be challenging after that I find a groove and it's quite easy to stay on program. Let me know if you need any other info!
