A Fat Girl's Weight Loss Journey
My name is Megan. I work as an RN in a labor and delivery unit so I am on my feet all day. In March of 2008, I began having knee pain. I was convinced that I had an injury. When I went to the othopedic surgeon I learned that I had the worst case of arthritis he had ever seen in a 36 year old person. He scoped my knee and told me that I needed my knees replaced but he would not even consider doing the surgery until I was 50 years old. I felt like I had no options to treat my pain but deep down inside I knew what I needed to do. I knew that if I did not lose some weight that my job I loved so much may no longer be something I could do. So here is where the decision was made. I began my weight loss journey in July 2009. I began looking into having the lap band surgery. I found out that is was required for me to do medical weight loss for 6 months before I could get the lap band. After talking to my doctor I began taking Phenteramine. It worked for a bit but I did not change the food I was putting into my mouth. Then I found hcg! Hcg has been a miracle cure for me. It has been able to get my weight the lowest it has been in 7 years without having to live in a gym, running all day. I have not had any hunger that I could not control with a bit of will power. While I do not eat the most exciting foods in the world, I get the calories I need and no longer need food to make me happy. My knees now feel amazing and rarely ever bother me. Since losing weight one of the milestones I hit was getting my BMI under 30. Losing the label of obese was a huge confidence booster for me. My goal now is to reduce from being considered overweight to normal weight. For me to have a BMI of 25 or less I need to get my weight to 148.
