My Goals:
It is my goal to reach 200 pounds.

My Program:
Tracking everything I eat and drink and staying under 1900 calories a day. I plan to walk 3.2 to 5 miles a day 6 days a week.

Personal Information:
I live in east Arkansas on "The River" and am blessed to have the delta and Crowley's Ridge which provides unlimited outdoor activity and sports. Also, we have a great history created over the years and have Civil War sites recreated as well as original sites preserved. We have one of the largest Blues Festivals in the world. Always something great happening.

Other Information:
I always thought I would retire and my wife and I would hike and camp, sans Scouts, just the two of us, and I would write an article about the railroads in my home county. Physically we will have to work to be able to hike flat ground!

Corned brisket! Those two words brought back so many happy memories of spending time running wild as a small child at my Dad's parents' house. They lived in a small country town, while I grew up in an inner city suburb, and to be able to climb trees, create cubby houses which would only survive till the first strong breeze before collapsing, spending hours getting filthy from sitting in the chicken pens, just watching their antics... and then each Saturday night dinner would be corned brisket! She is the only person I can remember ever calling that cut of meat corned brisket.

You don't know how wide the smile is on my face after reading those two little words. emoticon

Thanks for the wonderful start to my day,
Chris.

Thanks for your comment on my blog about dinner out with a friend. To answer your question, corned silverside is a salt-cured cut of beef. Thanks to Wikipedia, the term 'corned' comes from the treatment of the meat with large grained rock salt, also called 'corns' of salt.

Here in Australia butchers and supermarkets sell two kinds of 'corned beef' - the first is corned silverside, which is from the hind of the beef, while the other is 'rolled corned silverside', which I'd never even wondered where it came from on the animal until your question... It is a lot fattier, and is rolled into a round, then twine is used to secure it in place.

Now I'm wondering if I'd just written that corned silverside was corned beef, you'd have known what I was talking about, lol. Oh well, at least I learned where the 'corned' part of the name comes from.

Chris.

Thanks so much for your comment on my 'rather wear out' blog - I was almost ready to think maybe I should just book myself into our local nursing home until that lovely guy with his two dogs and little daughter in her stroller came by and made my day! I went to bed last night, wondering what those first two people to comment on my plan to create a garden around my front lawn would have thought if I'd dared say the same thing to them if they'd been doing what I was. Guessing they'd have felt as annoyed as I did! Maybe one day I can return the favour, hehehe.
