First, Love the Lord your God!

When asked what the greatest commandment in all of life is, Jesus Christ said, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord your God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength" (Mark 12:28-34). When we seek our Creator above all other things, and submit our lives to him, everything else has a way of falling in place.

So I'm seeking to live a more healthy lifestyle but that's not the main thing that's on my mind. The main thing that's on my mind ...

So I'm seeking to live a more healthy lifestyle but that's not the main thing that's on my mind. The main thing that's on my mind is loving the Lord my God by being a good steward of this body he's so graciously given me. May he be glorified in my quest for health and yours!

My Goals:
1. To get my weight down to 205 by June 30, 2014.

2. To complete a 5k in less than 30 minutes by May 31, 2014.

3. To increase my average speed on the bike so that 18.5 mph is the "new normal" by June 30, 2014.

4. To complete a 10k in less than 60 minutes by July 31, 2014.

5. To set a new sprint speed record on the bike of 30 mph or more by September 30, 2014.

6. To complete at least 2,000 miles on the bike by December 31, 2014.

My Program:
1. Food: I will use the SP nutrition tracker to ensure a proper balance of foods each day and to stay within my cal range.

2. Exercise: For strength training I will go to Anytime Fitness at least three days per week; for cardio I will walk, jog, run, ride my bike, and xc ski 5-6 days per week.

3. Support and Accountability: My wife, a couple good friends at church, and the SP community serve as my encouragers on this journey!

Personal Information:
My wife, daughter and I live in Otsego, Minnesota which is just northwest of Minneapolis. I am one of the Pastors of Glory of Christ Fellowship in Elk River. My wife is a Spanish teacher, and our daughter is a college student at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Other Information:
Hobbies/Interests:
1. Reading & writing.
2. Astronomy, I especially love looking at the Hubble Telescope site.
3. Football.
4. I love crime shows: 24, 48 hours, CSI, Numbers, NCIS, Monk, etc.

A Spark friend, Gaylinn, sent me a reminder that this time on planet Earth comes around only once & that we should enjoy it. I believe that a worthy reminder for us all --- the days fly by & why waste them by not enjoying the blessings our Creator fills them with?

I sure do hope & pray that we both make our time here count in ways that have far reaching results.
