Pursuing Health for the Glory of God!

When asked what the greatest commandment in all of life is, Jesus Christ said, "Hear, O Israel, the Lord your God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength" (Mark 12:28-34). When we seek our Creator above all other things, and submit our lives to him, everything else has a way of falling in place.

So I'm seeking to live a more healthy lifestyle but that's not the main thing that's on my mind. The main thing that's on my mind ...

So I'm seeking to live a more healthy lifestyle but that's not the main thing that's on my mind. The main thing that's on my mind is loving the Lord my God by being a good steward of this body he's so graciously given me. May he be glorified in my quest for health and yours!

My Goals:
1. To get my weight back down to 205 by August 31, 2015.

2. To increase my average speed on the bike to 18.5 mph by June 30, 2015.

3. To ride my bike to Duluth, MN and back in two days (150 miles each way).

4. To set a new sprint speed record on the bike of 30 mph or more by September 30, 2015.

5. To complete at least 2,500 miles on the bike by December 31, 2015.

My Program:
1. Food: I will use the SP nutrition tracker to ensure a proper balance of foods each day and to stay within my cal range.

2. Exercise: For strength training I will go to Anytime Fitness at least three days per week; for cardio I will walk, jog, run, ride my bike, and xc ski 5-6 days per week.

3. Support and Accountability: My wife, a couple good friends at church, and the SP community serve as my encouragers on this journey!

Personal Information:
My wife, daughter and I live in Elk River, Minnesota which is just northwest of Minneapolis. I am one of the Pastors of Glory of Christ Fellowship in Elk River. My wife is a Spanish teacher, and our daughter is a college student at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Other Information:
Hobbies/Interests:
1. Reading & writing.
2. Astronomy, I especially love looking at the Hubble Telescope site.
3. Football.
4. I love crime shows: 24, 48 hours, CSI, Numbers, NCIS, Monk, etc.
