Working Towards A Healthy Weight

I am the mother of 4 grown children and have 12 grandchildren. I volunteer at a local gym and at a Family History Center. I am active in my church community too.

I have been a perfect yo-yo dieter for 28 years now. I have been either perfectly striving for a healthy weight or perfectly abandoning any resemblance of a healthy lifestyle. OK, not quite that bad...but definitely eating well and exercising or eating non-nutritious stuff and not exercising.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 I actually got to my lowest weight in years: 163. I actually was eating balanced meals and exercising regularly even through most of 2012. Then I went nuts for some reason I have not been able to identify. Nor have I been able to turn things around. Today, April 18, 2013 I am making an attempt to regroup and get back to the positive behaviors I employed so well in the past.

In August of 2012 I had my right knee replaced. Very difficult. In March 2013 I had my left knee partially replaced. I'm still recovering from that. This is challenging my ability to exercise as hard as I would like...but that will come with time. And in January 2014 I had foot surgery. Boy, getting older is so much fun!? Actually, it is. I just have to keep going, right?

My Goals:
My short term goal is to weigh 187 or less by March 27th. I have been goofing off for a while, but hope to still make this goal!

My Program:
I am eating nutritiously balanced meals and attempting to work out 6 days a week at a careful pace as I recover from foot surgery.

Thank YOU so much for the vacation.....you shouldn't have been so extravagant, but I will except it with all the good thoughts it was sent with. Have a "healthy" weekend. I know I will be working on this too. emoticon emoticon

My only niece, Laurie, in her forties, married with three children in their twenties has been diagnosed with an advanced stage of an ovarian related cancer. This was found during a routine gall bladder removal, She will be having surgery on Sunday Oct. 13th. We are asking everyone to join us in our "circle of prayer". If you could please take a moment on Saturday Oct. 12 @ 7 PM, to say a prayer with us. We will be forever grateful. We believe there is power in prayer and need to let Laurie know we are all in this together. That even strangers (friends we haven't met yet) are praying for a good outcome in this most difficult time. Thank You ((HUGS)) Barb (auntb63)

Hello, yes the goals which are at the bottom of our team page are the same for Sept. as they were for Aug. Hope you had a good Labor Day. We had cooler temps and lower humidity, it was a nice day. Hope you have a great week.
