My name is Marijo, and I moved to South Florida in late 2013 to start a new life with my new husband and our little guy. I also have two beautiful children from my first marriage who are both in Middle School, so there is always an assortment of fun developmental stage challenges to face and navigate. While I have been with my company for almost 20 years, I started in a new role recently and am loving the challenge, although I still find myself a little lost at times! I have spent most of my teen and adult life slightly to significantly overweight, and am here because I simply don't want to live that way anymore. I am ready to change how I think about food and fitness, and to make a real change that will allow me to not only be here for many more years to come, but to be able to enjoy that time being active with my family and loved ones. I love Spark People because there are people from so many different walks of life and we are all able to come together to share, support, and inspire one another. Happy Sparking, all!

My Goals:
Overall, my goal is to be healthy so I can be around to see my babies have babies of their own one day.

In order to get there, I need to:
*reduce my BMI-it is borderline between Overweight and Obese
*shed some excess pounds-I'd like to take it 10 pounds at a time until I reach the 165-170 range (As of 3/1 @ 212)
*increase my level of activity

My Program:
In order to reach those goals, I am doing the following:

1. Calorie Range of 1200-1550 calories per day
2. Incorporating more freggies into my nutrition plan
3. Getting up and moving throughout the day instead of just sitting at my desk
4. Getting out and being active with my kiddos

Personal Information:
I live in Cooper City, FL, just west of Fort Lauderdale. I moved here in 8/2013 from the Tampa area, where I had lived most of my life prior. Officially I was born in Michigan, but I was 3 when we moved, so I don't really remember much of it.

I was divorced in 2008 after a year long separation didn't provide my ex with resolution and was a single Mom for my two older angels until about a year ago, when I married a wonderful family-oriented man and moved to South Florida.


Other Information:
I'm a gemini, so of course, I am a little bit crazy...have a huge heart and love being involved in community activities. In my spare time I love reading, writing, cross stitching, photography, crafts with the kiddos, and just enjoying the great outdoors that we have the pleasure and luxury of being able to be out in the majority of the year.

I was a surrogate in 2006 and delivered triplet boys for my dear friend and her husband, so all in all I have my three children and then three boys that I helped bring into this world. It is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done and don't regret it for a moment.

Hi Marijo! Just wanted to stop in to say hello :) Love your page! I am glad you were able to have a nice visit with your brother :) Your idea for having everything for the shakes ready is such a good idea. I love my shakes in the morning, makes it easy to fit lots of healthy foods into one quick and easy meal. Keeps you full throughout the morning and it just feels good starting the day off healthy, makes it easier to stick to good choices throughout the rest of the day when you start right. Enjoy the rest of your day and take care!
