Not getting any younger

Hey :0) I'm Molly, a homeschooling mom and homesteader.

I have been different degrees of overweight most of my life, including childhood. Most of my adulthood has been spent obese. I am currently at my highest, but that is all going to change. My husband's weight story is very similar and all of our parents are overweight/obese as adults too. Our daughter has also never been exactly thin since the day she is born.

We really want to stop the obesity inheritance now. I want to change my future generations' story.

Through all the years of trying to lose weight, I've realized how badly I HAVE to exercise and more recently, how much I need protein and lots of it. Something that never clicked with me when doing Weight Watchers (three times) years ago, was how you have to keep changing up your plan. How the body adapts quickly. How sometimes you really do have to increase your calories to trick your body. Who knew?

I'd love to get pregnant again (did I say that?), but my body is in no shape for it. We moved to my childhood farm in April 2013. Our dream is to live off the land as much as we can, growing our own food and raising our own meat. It is so much easier to meet the demands of the homestead when a person is physically fit.

I'm happy to be here. I joined in April 2006, dabbled on the site here and there for a few minutes, but it's time to get serious people!

OTHER GOALS
Bend at the waist to pick up something instead of kicking out my back leg and "hovering" forward to pick up.

Go to Old Navy and pick out an outfit without trying it on because I already know that it fits ;0)

Go through my daily non-exercise tasks without even a bead of sweat.

Be in shape enough to do the household and homestead tasks that I need to do.

COMPLETED GOALS
Tie my shoes without holding my breath.

My Program:
WATER, WATER and more WATER - half my weight in oz. daily (I only drink pop about once a month, when I eat fast food. We do have stevia sweetened iced tea at home daily)

Exercise at least 3X a week.

100 grams of protein daily.

25 grams of fiber daily. (I eat an orange, banana and an apple every day.)

Chewing my food instead of inhaling it. (I'm still the last one eating at the dinner table though!)

Learning to prepare and love vegetables. I love fruit, but need more vegetables, and not the starchy ones, either.

I don't keep much junk food around the house, I just eat too much food, period!

I'm concentrating on eating more whole foods as opposed to processed. Do we really know what all those preservatives do?

Personal Information:
Homeschooling homesteader

Other Information:
AUG 2013 - I can zip up my robe.

SEPT 2013 - My buttons do not gap on my button up blouses.

OCT 2013 - I can tie my shoes with my legs crossed and not hold my breath.

BEAUTIFUL WOMAN AWARD"

You are the recipient of the Beautiful Woman Award!!

Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the page of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out!

Again, Congratulations Beautiful!

OK, here's the one I made...it was ok, not fantastic, but gonna play with it and try others too :) I added some ground red pepper to it bc it needed something, but still seems lacking lol

Hummus

1 can chickpeas, drained
2 Tbs olive oil
2 Tbs minced garlic
2 Tbs lemon juice
pinch of salt

Optional:
dash of crushed red pepper
1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
a few green olives
cilantro
Instructions

Place drained chickpeas and olive oil in a food processor. Process until creamy.
Add in the remaining ingredients and process until fully mixed.
Enjoy!
