Moms are the best!

I am a single mom to a lively, happy 9 year old daughter. I have two beautiful birds and I am looking to get off the last of the weight I gained when I was pregnant with my daughter. Life is full of enjoyment and challenges. I want to have the energy, strength to deal with all of that every day.

My Goals:
I will be doing a minimum of 60 minutes of cardio 5 times a week and strength training for 3 times a week. I have joined the 2014 Summer 5%Challenge. I have set a goal to lose 7 pounds on this challenge. I am following the sparkpeople eating plan. i plan to reply to fellow team members blogs and to leave comments on their spark pages, to encourage them along and to just say hi.

My Program:
I want to be in the best shape of my life and I will, along with the sparkpeople eating plan and support of fellow sparkers, will achieve that goal. I will be trying new fruits and vegetables this month. I want to be stronger than I have ever been before. I no longer want to be the mom on the sidelines watching my daughter play. I want to be the mom who is out there playing right along with her. No more getting out of breath just going up some stairs. Since I started Sparkpeople, that happens much less often now. I am not too far from my goal weight. I know I will get there at my own pace.

Other Information:
I enjoy going to the movies, reading a variety of books, listening to music. I also watch lots of sports, do volunteer work and spend lots of time with my daughter.

At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
Albert Schweitzer
You are in the top five for team fitness minutes this week. Do not let your SPARK go out during Thanksgiving. Be grateful for your many blessings. YOU are one of MY blessings emoticon

“Excuses or achievement

Do you live each day focused on excuses? Or are you instead focused on achievement?

If you’re focused on excuses, you won’t even make an attempt unless you’re sure you’ll get it perfect. When you’re focused on achievement, though you may not get it completely perfect, you will get it done.

If you’re focused on excuses, the slightest obstacle will stop you cold. When you’re focused on achievement, you’ll work your way through any challenge.

If you’re focused on excuses, you’ll avoid unfamiliar or uncomfortable situations. When you’re focused on achievement, you’ll seek out new, invigorating circumstances and will find great value in them.

Excuses sound reasonable, and enable you to be temporarily satisfied with yourself for doing nothing more than thinking them up. In the long run, though, excuses can bury you under a mountain of missed opportunities.

Let go of the easy excuses, and grab on to a burning desire for meaningful achievement. Focus not on excuses, but on real achievement, and you’ll bring a profusion of that great, satisfying achievement into your world.”
