My dear friend, Nancy and me (on right)
Hi! I am a 45yr. old mom of 2 wonderful girls ages 13 and 11. I married my childhood sweetheart 15yrs ago last Oct. I have always been pretty fit, but gained some weight after the girls were born. With all the busyness of family, work (I teach preschool), and church I don't have much time for me.
In Sept. '07 I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer...quite a shocker since there was no family history or anything!! After surgery, chemo, and radiation I had lost my hair, my energy, and gained 20 pounds!!
God blessed me greatly with a wonderful family and an amazing church family that rallied around me and lifted me up in endless ways. He gave me incredible doctors & nurses who worked together to give me the best treatments. I am now in remission!!
God has given me this second chance to watch our girls grow up and to give of myself to help others in need.
Our bodies are miraculous things created by God in His image... I feel I need to honor His gift by taking the best possible care of it as I can. So that means making the time each day to exercise and eat the right foods and be a good example for our girls, and hopefully my dear husband too.
Pray that God gives me the strength and willpower to stick with it. I'm used to taking care of everyone else, but me!
To be healthier, have more energy, be a good role model to my kids and to take the best care possible of this amazing body that God has given me!
Learn to eat healthy, portion controlled meals, drink more water, get 30 mins. of cardio exercise daily and 30 mins. of strength training 3x a week.
I grew up in Vermont, moved to Virginia in '93, married my childhood sweetheart in '96, we had Catie in '98 and Nicole in '01. I was a stay-at-home mom until '05. Now I teach preschool, volunteer at our daughter's schools, keep track of house and family, run the girls and their friends around and...and......you get the picture.
I LOVE...God, my sweet husband of 15 yrs., our precious daughters, our family, our church and friends, all children, animals, gardening, reading, walking, biking, camping, crocheting, cooking, and just life in general!

So, how was the flea market?! I hadn't been to one in years, but stopped at one a few weeks ago and found this really cool glass figure. Well, it's really just the head of a woman, but saying I bought a glass head takes something away from it. Lol. Anyway, I've never seen anything quite like it and it makes me smile every time I look at it. The expression on her face is just so serene and peaceful. And it was only 10 bucks! Score! It was like finding a treasure. Lol.
Sounds like you are really hitting those workouts! Great job! I've been off course a bit. I have been struggling with migraines and just an overall feeling of ick, but am feeling a bit better everyday and making improvements as I go. Far from perfect, but better everyday and pressing forward.

I'm so glad you contacted me. I tried something new for August and banished my scale to the closet. Let's just say I won't be doing that again anytime soon. LOL. I veered WAY off track and was finding it hard to get back on track this month. Then I got your note. It was the kick in the pants I needed. I'm in! Let's do this.

Thank you for your kind and encouraging words! I agree, all of these steps we are taking, do add up. It seems that when I'm getting my workout in, my eating isn't quite 100%. And when I'm eating 100% right, it seems something interferes with my workout time. I actually enjoy my workouts and prefer to have 45 minutes to an hour to workout, when I'm in my groove. I'm building momentum, and confident I'll get there and determined to stay the course! We can do this!!

It is so nice to hear from you! The weather is very weird here for Vermont. It was in the upper 40's yesterday and raining. It melt all the snow and it is brown and depressing everywhere! What's it like in Virginia?
