I am a married stay at home mom of 4 boys including 8 year old twins. I've struggled with my weight since I was a child. I have had thin times, but more often chubby times.
In 2008 we changed the family's diet mostly in response to my mother's diagnosis of Alzheimer's in 2005 which can be diet related. I was inspired by YOU on a Diet and we ate real food. I lost over 100 and my oldest son 17. My children are now all nutritionally aware.

Trying to lose the last 30 pounds at age 48 by lowering my carbs.
I'm always learning and reading to understand this struggle better.

Hi Moxie - I just read your thread about Insulin Resistance. I was on vacation when you posted it. I am having a terrible time with not losing hardly any weight. I have IR, and it is not fun. I have been checking out books at the library on the subject. The condition is also called Syndrome X. I have it, but in the past you have lost quite a bit. Your body could just be resting at this weight for a while before it lets go of more fat. Hard to say, but hang in there. Here is a link to one of my book reviews on the subject.

Thanks for the reply to my post about not doing the Induction Phase of Atkins!

It's always good to hear from people who are making low carbing a successful journey. I think I will try to keep my carbs around 50 or below for a couple of weeks and see if there is any weight loss. If not, I will go back and do the Induction Phase. And by then, I should be getting more use to less carbs anyway.

Have a great day! emoticon

Hey there!! Just wanted to stop by and say hi!! I want to officially welcome you back to the parents of twins team. I am hoping that more members come back and regularly make posts. I am on other teams that are very active and motivating and inspiring, and I hope that we can make this team as productive and encouraging as they are. Take a look at the sticky posts and specifically for familys/kids posts. Please post and add any new topic at anytime. Stop back by often!! Look forward to seeing you there!!!
