Okay I am 38 now, I thought I would feel different, older, or somthing. No such luck. Just another year older and a trip around the sun. And yet, I can't say it is a bad feeling. Another year has going by and in taking stock of my life I can say I have changes to make and things I am happy with.

CHANGES: I have discovered juicing. Yes, I would agree a typical California thing to do. I have read about it. Known people who do it. Laughed at it. AND now think it is time for me to try my hand at it. Well not hand litetrally, but you know what I mean.

It started out with having too much watermelon and too many strawberries [ makes juice w/o seeds by the way]. Then is progressed to having to do something with all the fruit salald I had made [watermelon, catalope, honeydew, and pineapple - Did you know I made 8 quarts of fruit salad for under $5.00 - shame to waste it!]

Then much to my hubby's surprise the fridge became overloaded with carrots, tomatoes, celery, beets, and all kinds of other veggies he was not ready to eat in a salad, or any other form. - So okay maybe I did too much juice recipe reading before I practiced. As it turns out - and lucky for me - many veggies don't taste anything like what they look or taste like cut up, once they have been juiced. And the pulp makes great soup base.

Carrots - cover a ton of bitter flavors, Strawberries - can fix almost anything, Blueberries give a lot more pulp than juice. All good things to learn when juicing.

I am only a couple of dauys info this, wow, what will MOM think when I drag her to a Farmer's Market and buy more fruits and veggies for a week than she might use in a lifetime.

I don't know that I can juice all my meals for life, but I can try to replace as manu as I have to courage too

165: !! Completed - Bought a new pair of TrailRunners.

155: almost there, but may hold off on a reward in order to save for personal training after I am healed from surgery.

It is no longer a numbers game at this point. It is more of developing a conquering spirit. Taking on those this I have always thought about in the abstract:

The Trans-Catalina Trail - 4-5day - would like to get some girlfriends together to do it.
Cross Country Skiing - never tried it, am looking forward to it.

Bi-athalon - Skiing and Shooting, I hear timing is everything.

Kayaking - never been, but a friend is taking be for the first time 8/15 .... I DID it and Wow, I think I am hooked. What a great workout, easy on the back, my insecurities about my weight are inmaterial. I so am going to do this again and plan on buying my own KAYAK!

Hawaii - camping not resorting - 1week-10days - to see eve

FOOD:
Start juicing. Eat foods as "whole" as possible. Avoid "white" foods, processed foods, and most eating out.

Wear my Pedometer. Goal is for 100,000 steps per week or more.

Each step is one more toward a better tomorrow.

I was born in SoCal on the corner of Sunset and Edgemont, grew up in Friendly Hill/ Heights, moved to Mesa AZ for 5 years, and came back to CA to be married to the best guy in the world. Now I live in Livermore CA and am proud to be a Bay Arean and Livermoron.

Other Information:
I am a giant Parrot Head married to the world's biggest Dead Head and we both enjoy our Trips Around The Sun. According to my husband, I am his Sugar Magnolia.



My husband is a force to be reckoned with. After developing Type 1 Diabetis in his early 20's, getting debilitating osteoporosis in the legs and being put in a wheelchair, his is the most active person I know. I need to get healthier and more active just to keep up with the Bay Area's own Legend: 4WheelBob.

Here is to a life long pursuit of health, fruits and veggies, happiness, hiking, love and peace!

Oh and a CURE for this darned Cancer!
