I'm 59, widowed, no children, live in Columbus, Ohio with my 14.5 yr. old dog, Tucker.

I've struggled with my weight since about 2000 and at my lowest, got down to about 140, only to gain it all back. It's the eternal seesaw! Never had a weight problem growing up, I was the puny, overly thin child and weighed 98 lbs all through college and could not gain. Age, ailments, and certain meds I take caused me to put on the excess weight.

I have been around Sparkpeople more years than I care to remember, most years I have been on a team. I like the feeling of camaraderie that a team offers.

My Goals:
To get to 130 and stay there; and trim off excess belly fat. Right now, this summer, I have made it my goal to just stay at 140. It is hot in summer, and I feel less inclined to exercise in hot weather, and tend to eat more cookout type foods.

My Program:
I have GERD, and am not supposed to eat for a half hour to an hour after taking my GERD meds, so I go walk in the park for an hour most days (which is next door to me). If I can, I also try to do more intense exercise on top of that such as my elliptical, stationary bike, or treadmill. I don't really watch too much what I eat, as I pretty much eat the same things day in and day out. If I find myself gaining, I cut back, or add more exercise.

Personal Information:
I'm bipolar type 2, which makes losing weight doubly hard at times, as when I fall into depression, all motivation goes out the window! :(

    emoticon Hello! I wanted to pop in and thank you for Friending me! 🐦 I have done the same thing with you. It's always easier to share a journey with friends. I'm not very active right now. My sweet little Lily emoticon was recently killed by a large dog on one of our walks and it's just taken the drive I had. I'm getting better every day and I have just got a new Puppy named Poppy.
