Me at my community's high school graduation, now 10 pounds lighter!

Me with a bunch of Paraguayan kids during summer camp!

The fat me, when I was 157! Ugh - this picture alone is enough to keep me away from the fridge :/

My name is Marissa, I'm 24, and I'm currently a Peace Corps volunteer in Paraguay - I know, a Peace Corps volunteer with internet (it's reasonably affordable here). I'm loving my work but I can't put my health on hold for a few years. Being here offers some special dietary challenges, especially the prevalence of red meat and fatty foods, but I can still find a decent variety of fruits and veggies. Just being in this country, away from fast food and frequent drinking, has helped me lose 10 pounds without even trying. I'd still like to get down to 135 and tone my body. Contact me - I'm looking for some buddies for inspiration!

My Goals:
I'd like to lose 12 pounds (to start anyway). I'd like to eat a more balanced diet and prevent health problems in the future. My parents and brother are all very large and while I am smaller than them, I have a fear of gaining this weight. I'd like to exercise on a more consistent basis as well. And of course I want to look and feel good!!

My Program:
I am trying not to exceed my calorie goal for the day. I am also aiming to work out 3 times a week, minimum. I'm trying to eat more fruits and veggies and less white products!

Personal Information:
My name's Marissa and I'm 24. I grew up in Rhode Island but still feel strong ties to Boston, where I went to college. Now I'm living in Paraguay as a Peace Corps volunteer.

"Rule #76: No excuses, play like a champion!"

Yes, Wedding Crashers is funny, but there is so much truth to this statement! You can apply it to anything in your life. Just think about all the excuses people make. So I use it to say put the excuses away - they usually aren't insurmountable, just procrastination - and DO whatever it is that you need to DO! Play life like a champion!
