Live in northeastern Montana.

One of my Spark friends had this on his status (4/28/2016) -- THENEWMICHAEL "When it comes to measuring progress, the mirror is a better instrument than the scale."
WOW!!! That is something we all need to take to heart!

We all have a whoops day. Its what you do the day after that counts... Kaliswalker

JOHAL52 is still in a holding pattern over life. But that's okay--sometimes holding patterns can lead to growth--it's up to me :) -- Her status for 2Aug11 -- A small comment that speaks volumes.

My Goals:
To exercise more, get more toned, and get to a healthier weight. I would like to stave off any joint problems in legs and hips.

Another goal which I have is to get rid of a lot of the "stuff" I possess, way more than I need to have.

My Program:
Portion Control - although I haven't been real successful in doing this, I am more aware of what portions are and try to stick with them most of the time.

I use the nutrition tracker and follow no particular weight loss diet, just try to get more freggies, less carbs and fat. I have been customizing the "my favorites" list to include the foods I use the most. I have been also making use of the exercise tracker, getting at least 10 minutes of cardio every day. I try to do some strength trainig 3 days a week.

Personal Information:
I live in Northeastern Montana. I work more than full time at a desk job. I spend way too much time on the computer...

Jan, 2016 -- All of this still holds true.

Other Information:
Am a cat person. Like to knit, sew, quilt, garden -- but don't seem to get much of them done.

2/24/2013 -- Several fiber craft people have been meeting during lunch hour once a week to work on projects, visit, and show off our latest projects. We also share techniques when someone has a problem with their project. Some are also starting into spinning using drop spindles.

Thank you for the tips on the knitting. I hadn't thought of using grosgrain ribbon as reinforcement - excellent idea. I do sew and have done many zippers over my lifetime on the sewing machine but have never attempted it on a knitting project. I appreciate the ideas greatly!

Fruits and vegetables contain key vitamins and minerals. Folate, magnesium, potassium, and vitamins A, C and K are just a few of the all-stars you'll find in fresh produce. All of these nutrients play different roles in health and fruits and veggies are some of the best ways to get them.

Fruits and vegetables are rich in fiber. Fiber has many important effects in the body. It keeps your digestive system healthy, can help keep you full (especially important if you are cutting calories for weight loss), and prevents numerous health conditions while also promoting a healthy heart.

Fruits and vegetables are also rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals. These nutrients reduce inflammation which can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Molecules in the body called "free radicals" cause damage to our cells all the time, but antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables actually neutralize these molecules, slowing down the aging process. So you won't just look younger, your body will be healthier from the inside-out!

Fruits and vegetables help with weight loss. Because they're naturally low in calories while being rich in fiber and nutrients, eating more fruits and vegetables helps to fill you up without consuming a lot of calories.

To gain the most nutritional benefit, select whole (unprocessed) fruits and vegetables when possible. Buying local or in-season produce also increases the chance that the food you are eating contains maximum nutrients per bite (since food that is picked and then has to travel long distances is losing nutrients every hour, day or week that goes by). Other forms such as frozen, canned, cooked, and dried fruits and vegetables, as well as juice are also acceptable and affordable options when keeping some cautions in mind.
