"A Day in the Life of Mugsy"

Here I go on my road to weight loss. Where did this weight come from?! Once I hit the big 4-0 I've noticed my body undergoing many changes and shifts. Now, at my all-time heaviest, I am embarking on a new groove to getting thinner and healthier. I am generally a very positive woman and can always see the good in things - even when it seems bad. Although I have a long road ahead of me I feel that I can succeed. I want to live a long healthy life and that starts today! Keeping things real ...

My Goals:
My goals are many but first and foremost I want to strive to be a positive influence on others - my children, family, and friends. I want to remain as healthy as possible and be a good role model to others. I strive to laugh a lot each day and make others laugh, too. The world is so serious that we can all use some cheeful chuckling to enhance our days. My weight loss goal is now to lose a total of 50 pounds...even if it's a slow loss...it will all be well worth it. I continue to chug the "high-quality H2O" as I've been doing - 8-10 glasses a day. And last, but not least, I will try to remember to do things to make me a happy person - things for me...I'm not being selfish but as the saying goes - "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!"

My Program:
At least 4 days of cardio (jogging/walking on treadmill) along with 3 days of strength training. I also strive to eat at least 5 fruits/vegetables each and every day! I also try to sneak in exercises throughout the day while at work. I recently joined Weight Watchers and I love their program. I am averaging 1.2 pound weight loss each week. It's coming off...slowly but surely.

Personal Information:
I live in Pittsburgh, PA - a wonderful place to live! I have two teenage children - a boy and a girl. I am married and also have a miniature schnauzer - Barnaby. I work full-time at a prominent Pittsburgh hospital as a fellowship coordinator for 12 hematology/oncology fellows. I am currently trying to deal with my son going off to college in the fall 2013 :( and my daughter will follow right behind him in fall 2014.

Other Information:
I love to spend time working outdoors in my yard. I am an avid birdwatcher and just love being outdoors. Camping and hiking are two of my favorite hobbies.

Sorry it's taken me a month to get back to you!
Yes, I did run JASR, all by myself. I didn't see any SP people there. When I was starting the race I heard the announcer say "And holding up the back of the race is our friends from Spark People", so apparently everyone was behind me. Oh well. It was alright - the zero degree temps made it a little less fun than what it probably should have been, but so is life at times, right?
I'm signed up for a 5k in July, in the North Shore, called Night Nation, other than that I'm adjusting to life being back to work after all these years.

I hope all is well with you - and I hope your mom is doing well!

Funny, my last comment was saying I wasn't going to make JASR in 2014. I wanted to come by to tell you I am going to make it this year! So I'm hoping you will be too?!?!

HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO wonderful to hear from you. I am not registered, but I'm seriously considering. I'd like to get in a road race before my 1/2 in May. I've been down for the last 5 days with the stomach bug and cannot wait to get back to my training. So far I'm up to 6 mile runs. Are you doing the 5k?
If I can get back to a good schedule this week, I think I'll go run it! I'd love to meet you and so many others!
