Shared Food & Fitness Trackers
Hello, I live in The Black Country in the Midlands, UK. I've been a member on the site for a couple of months but am only really getting to grips with all the different resources it offers now.
I am a carer and over the last 3-4 years my life seems to have gone on safari and I just totally lost control of my eating and exercise habits.
My partner is the person I care for, he's an ex-soldier who was shot while on tour in Afghanistan. This is the main reason I've let my life rage out of control, while trying to keep his life on track as much as possible.
Now I'm starting to get a handle on my life again and my goal is to get back to the healthy and active lifestyle that was my reality just a few years ago. I'm aiming to lose the 92lbs I've crazily piled on and get back to walking, running, swimming, hiking and football and rugby that used to fill my time; I love sport.
Also I've found a new interest in sailing, after an afternoon on the water in a sailboat I'm hooked, and I'm looking at some RYA courses that can be my reward for finding myself again.
Of course the life of a carer is never dull! I'm getting some support finally and have managed to get an hour to get out and exercise most days during the week, and I'm loving the time to think and reflect I get during my walks. But I can't really plan from day to day because I never really know how my guy is going to be on any given day. I'm learning to take each opportunity that pops up though, and I'm more relaxed and better able to help him.
The main goal for the next few weeks is to track my food/exercise. Get better quality sleep. Drink plenty of water - which touch wood, I have been doing pretty easily for the last week or so. Also I want to get my walking speed up so that I can start adding a minute or two of jogging into my walks. I'm enjoying the exercising at the moment but it would be nice to talk to someone now and again, thats why I joined SP.
I'm pretty relaxed about food, I enjoy healthy food and know what I should be eating and what I should be steering clear of. The ease of fast food has been my downfall over the last few years, but I'm not missing it (most days!). I've implemented a healthy eating regime in the house and my guy is happy joining in for the most part, I sometimes have to swap out some things for him but he isn't too picky which is great.
So overall the problems I forsee will be with making sure I get some time to exercise and to use the time I do get as best as I can. Hopefully I can get better at this!
Get back to a healthy lifestyle and lose 99lbs along the way.
I'm eating a healthy balanced diet (1200 - 1500 cals) including 2 LTRS of water per day.
I'm walking at least 3 miles a day, working up to jogging and then running.
I'm helping my partner get at least some exercise on our Wii once a day too.
I'm from Birmingham UK, but I'm living in The Black Country UK, (with the YAM YAMS!)
I love sports and was actively involved in womens football, rugby and cricket only a few years ago.
I support Aston Villa FC.
My main hobby is reading and my favourite author is probably Patrick O'Brian; but I read anything that comes my way!
I enjoy music, and like my reading I'll listen to just about anything depending on my mood. If you put me on an island with only a couple of records one would have to be Blonde on Blonde; Dylan is my default musician!
I listen to pop, folk, jazz, blues, rap and hip-hop, rock, dance music. Anything will do! I've recently been enjoying John Mayer's albums.
