Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.

I'm not there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.

Hello, my name is Brenda, and I'm a 48 year old computer geek who has just let herself go for way too long. I used to be fit and healthy, but time, school, work, and life just seemed to get into my way. I successfully lost 50 lbs in 2015, but I have gained that 50 + 20 more back since then thanks to this thing called life.

2016 was one of the worst years in my life. It started out with so much hope, that it actually didn't collapse until mid-April when we were told my grandfather was dying. I also was working in the beer industry, which is not good for the waistline, either. But at the beginning of September 2016, my life suddenly took a different course. I lost my job. I didn't find another one until December 2016, but I made a promise that I wouldn't just accept a job because it was offered to me, but that I would accept the right job. And that I did.

2017 is looking like it has a lot of promise and hope. I have already made a commitment to getting fit and healthy again, by signing up for the same program that helped me lose weight back in 2014/2015. I won't start until February, as I am to have a spinal block on my back on January 9th to help repair a disc that was injured during a fall in October 2016. So, I'm hopeful that 2016 will be the year of good health for me!

As for me and my family, I'm single, never-married with two adorable pups: Boots (a 3 year old Boston Terror) and Sampson (a 9 year old Springer/Dachshund mix). I live in the greater Indianapolis / Carmel area and have lots of trails around to hike and walk. I just need the motivation to do just that! I even (finally) fixed my mountain bike! No excuses!

I've been overweight for 9 years now and I'm about over it. I miss the gal I used to be and I'm praying that I can be that person once again.

I reached ONEderland during the 2013 Fall 5% Challenge, then again in 2015. I'm hoping to be back in ONEderland by summer 2017. I have been receiving a lot of encouragement from friends and family about my weight loss accomplishments and are rooting me on to reach that 185 goal.

So, here I am on the verge of the 2017 Spring 5% Challenge and have a renewed determination and spirit to get back on track. I have all of the tools. I have all of the knowledge. It is just matter of putting these things in action. Which I plan on doing...TODAY!

My Goals:
My goals are to lose 80 lbs that have crept up on me since my 30th birthday 17 years ago. I want to feel healthy, be healthy, and regain confidence in how I look and feel.

My Pampering Goals: Okay...here we go!

Goals:
1. $1 for every pound lost
2. $1 for every inch lost
3. $.50 for every day I stay in my calorie range
4. $.50 for every day of 30 minutes or more cardio
5. $.50 for every day of strength training


My Program:
My 2017 Spring 5% Challenge Commitment Goals

I will commit to getting in 30 minutes of cardio (elliptical or walking) a day for the 8 weeks (56 days) of the challenge.

I will commit to getting in 30 minutes of strength training three a week for the 8 weeks of the challenge.

I will commit to following a low carb/high protein diet directed and monitored by my physician and by The Onion Factory.

I will log my daily calories and post my exercise minutes

I will log my weight each week on Saturday

I will log my Living the Good Life points

I will check in with my team daily by commenting on the message board

I will be supportive of my teammates and read and comment on blogs and pages

I'm in Carmel/Westfield, Indiana, and pretty much from the Indiana area. I have two dogs, Sampson, who I lovingly call wondermutt, and Bootsie, who I call the Boston Terror. I am not married, and have no children.
