Inspiration, courtesy of the scale and a "close call"!

I had been looking for some inspiration - and found it the hard way! First, my weight ballooned this summer after a long driving vacation and too many packages of Pringles chips, and then, my brother-in-law recently had a "cardiac event" that, thank God, he survived with no cardiac muscle damage. It makes me worry - am I next? Now, I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle, changing my body, taking care of myself. I'm a 48 year old married mom with two wonderful teenagers, two dogs, ...

I'm a 48 year old married mom with two wonderful teenagers, two dogs, one horse, and a challenging full time job. Love to ride (english), read, workout videos, travel. Sometimes I find myself slumped on the couch in a big, lazy slug-like heap - yikes! Need to get up, out of the house, and into the gym (or the barn, to ride my horse)!

Hi Girl! I had to add you after seeing your blog of wanting to get serious with this weight loss and wanting to quit fighting yourself. That sounded like me entirely! I saw that you're 52 years old. I'm 54. I lost my dear Mama to diabetes at the age of 63 and my dear sister to diabetes at the age of 54! To make a long story short, I started to get some same symptoms that my sister had with her diabetes, so that spurred me into action! Since May of 2011 I've lost 67# and have gained 12# back and have been trying to lose that all over again for about a year now. I keep going around and around in numbers! Feel free to add me back. I see that we can enter in to alot of the same things! Have a great rest of the week!
