old age ain't fer sissies

So I had 53 years of good health and cheer, did I appreciate it? No. Now I'm hypothyroid and bitter if it keeps up I'll prolly be bald too. Already lost 3/4 of an inch... from my height. As mom said: "Everyone dies from something, and this is when it starts . You need to get a job with a good health insurance policy that will cost you 12k a year". Thx mom.

DISCLAIMER: I created this page in November 2007, when I was first Dx'ed with hypothyroid disease. Since I've been a bit of a "health nut" from an early age, I felt betrayed by my body, and the snark included here is evidence of this internal conflict.

I have gotten several comments from Sparker's concerned about my emotional status, thinking that I was down on myself and my world. Based on what they had read on my Sparkpage, their concern was understandable.

I thought about changing my first intro.
But decided to write this disclaimer instead.

I thought it was important to preserve the rawness, to reflect the shock of my diagnosis. I thought it would be beneficial, for those just joining, dealing with the same internal conflicts.

My posts and blogs are ample evidence of the beneficial changes that being here on Spark has wrought, and serve as contrast to this original page. Its only thru education and helping others that I have come to peace with hypothyroid disease.

I would like to assure those reading my words that am truly grateful for every day on this planet.

Happy to serve my team as both a resource and motivator.

Namaste

Thank you so much for the advice you gave about post surgical pain after thyroid surgery. I just saw it today,Sunday. But you are right on with the calcium and vit D. I needed Calcium. It was checked just before I left the hospital, but then it went down. Some of the pain was anaesthesia. The surgeon wants to see how I do with 1/2 thyroid before she gives hormones after one month. If I suddenly get fatigued, I am supposed to get bloodwork and see her immediately. I appreciate your advice. You obviously know a lot. emoticon

Thank you so much for your comments on Rita's wheelchair blog. Yes, I agree, that story or any good story works for a children's book. You have some lovely paintings on your page. Hope you loved Monet's garden. Best wishes, Shirley

Wow your art sounds amazing! I did a print thing before for an art class. It was pretty difficult. What a process! Fun though! :)

Hope you have a great weekend!
I've got to figure a way to log my food, and stop over eatting! Ahhhh! This is the hardest part for me!
