2013 and a New Me!

Hi, my name is Diane. I am a chronically overweight 65 year old woman. I have been struggling with weight my entire life.

I have dieted about 8-10 times in my life to lose the weight, only to gain it all back again with a few additional pounds for good measure.

With the help of SparkPeople.com, I am committed not to a diet, not to a program, not to just a temporary fix, but a true lifestyle change!

Now that I have reached my goal, I will work very diligently to keep me at a healthy weight for the rest of my life. I can do this only with the help and grace of God.

I have succeeded in losing 35#. I would like to take off another 5# just for the sake of insurance that I will stay at my goal of 128# or lower for the rest of my life.

I feel great. My cholesterol numbers dropped drastically and recently my doctor took me off the statin drugs used previously to control my high cholesterol. I am controlling my own numbers now by eating healthy foods and loving what I eat and the results that I'm seeing.

This is the new ME in 2013.

My Goals:
Resetting my goals today.
I have managed to lose most of my goal weight, bouncing from 129-131, but staying in a range I am comfortable.

I plan to challenge myself in regard to exercise. My routine is just that, routine.

I need to change it up every day and maybe that last few pounds will finally go away for good.

My Program:
By keeping fresh fruits and vegetables on hand at all times, following tips and recipes on SparkPeople, I have the confidence that I will be successful in reaching my goals listed above. SparkPeople has been the greatest accidental meeting I've ever had.

Personal Information:
I live in Northern Illinois, lifelong Midwestern girl. I love the 4 seasons and could never live where the trees are always green. Once you experience the beauty of autumn in the northern regions of this country, it would be so difficult to miss out on that phase of nature. I'm a 65 year old wife, mother of 2 sons and grandmother of 4. I am a retired massage therapist.

Other Information:
I love going to the movies, dining out with friends, spending time on the water with my husband, fishing or reading a book while he fishes. I love living in the country, wide open spaces, fresh air and campfires on a summer night.

"Sometimes victory seems so far away because we measure it only by the goal. And end goals can seem overwhelmingly huge, daunting, and just plain hard to reach. But if we start measuring our victories by the smaller choices we make each day, victory won't seem so impossible.....
It's amazing the chain reaction that can start in your life with just one good choice.
Big things are built one brick at a time.
Victories are achieved one choice at a time.
A life well lived is chosen one day at a time.
Oh sweet friend, you are closer than you think to victory!"
-Lysa TerKeurst

Be your own hero, one choice and one step at a time! You might not see visible signs of progress right away, but as long as you keep doing your best, you will make progress and you will be victorious! I'm rooting for you! Remember, you're worth your best effort!
Hugs,
Pixie

“The difference between stepping stones and stumbling blocks is not in the event itself but how you think about it and what you do after it.
Every failure and setback can become part of your success or an excuse for quitting or failing.
People who develop the discipline of positivity are both happier and more successful."
-Michael Josephson

Just dropping by to say hello, Sparkfriend! Remember, you don't have to be perfect on this journey in order to make progress! As long as you keep trying...and never quit...you are already a success! Keep doing your best, because you are worth the effort!
Hugs,
Pixie

"Part of abandoning the all-or-nothing mentality is allowing yourself room for setbacks.
We are bound to have lapses on the road to health and wellness, but it is critical that we learn how to handle small failures positively so that we can minimize their long-term destructive effects.
One setback is one setback—it is not the end of the world, nor is it the end of your journey toward a better you.”

"It takes effort and belief to persevere and stay dedicated to accomplish your goal. When you find yourself doubting whether the effort is worth it, visualize how you will feel and what you will have once your goal is completed."
